Who are TCL? I've seen a few sponsored sites pushing the new brand as if its always been there and that its good quality. However, usually when something is pushed like this its a pile of do do. Any comments anyone?

Have a look at rtings site. They review tcls.
Well last year many said that the UK TCL set's were inferior to the US one's. Think it was the poor brightness (nits) of the UK set's that was the issue. Not sure if this has been improved with the 2019 versions
Likelihood from what I gather from reviews is that it's a really well priced 4K TV and some great features... But the corners cut to make it this price will show themselves in the scenes with a lot of black or dark backdrops and also high speed shots (car chases, fight scenes, etc)

You get what you pay for in respect to that.

Generally though, at that price point it seems like a bit of a bargain to me.
Pulled the trigger on this and received mine today and I am pretty impressed with it after doing a little tuning in the picture settings. Brightness appears to be a slight issue if in certain modes which might be what David_Livesey was saying.
Audio balance seems to be a bit ropey out of the box. The spectrum seems a bit broad ie quiet scenes are very quiet and loud scenes very loud.

Will probably pair with a soundbar.

Yeah heard the same thing too. Was gonna buy one coz the reviews were great but then saw it was only the US version that was getting great reviews

Bought the 55" for my bedroom. It's awesome for the money and the model I bought was also good refresh rates for the computer. 2 year warranty and they will collect if anything goes wrong with it. The sound isn't so great but this is the case with most tv's and nothing a decent sound bar or decent bluetooth speaker will solve.

Its an awesome TV and would probably cost double at currys for a simular model.
