Oooo tempting with local dimming, Mrs would have me! What's the smart functionality like on this
Edited by: "majorwedgy84" 6th Feb
Seems like an awful lot of TV for the money.
Hot
I have 50" version. Generally would not recommend. Pic is good, sound very mediocre and smart options are rubbish. As a bonus if you don't have WiFi router nearby, (like within 4-5meters and no walls), it does not connect to the internet. I use mine with ps4 (because it catches the WiFi signal without problems) and don't use free view at all...
These are alright , I have a 50" picture us spot on .sound not so but a soundbar or similar would sort that out. Smart features are basic but put a firestick in the hdmi and it's much better than most in built os.

It's just edge lit local dimming so nothing to write home about.

Not the same telly but I wouldn't expect much at this price point.

I wouldn't trust any reviews from techradar tbh!
Not great TV's these. TCL are bringing their US range to the UK from mid 2020, those are considerably better TV's than the ones we've had in the UK so far.

At CES 2020. The TV's will likely have different model numbers, but will be based on their US models. They will be releasing at least one of their top-end mini-LED TV's here too.

i guess the price of these better US sold machines will be considerably higher ?
No matter what TV i watch i'm always anxious about whether the blacks are black and the whites are white. I can't even let myself think about gamma levels, that would push me over the edge.
I have this tv and for the money it’s a great deal in my opinion, I’m not too fussy with all the tech spec. I’ve a sound bar and a 4K fire stick which is fine. It works with Alexa too if that’s important to anyone. There is also the 5 year warranty, plus the 90 day No quibbreturns to Costco if it’s not as good as you expect for the price.
Don't bother with any TCL TV the bluetooth is out of sync and cannot be fixed.

Maybe not to start with, TCL haven't got the brand recognition that they have in the US. They will probably offer them at lower than average prices until recognition is gained.

get speakers/soundbar and an nvidia shield or some android stick. problem solved

I don't know people complain about tv speakers. they are ALL terrible.
Poor picture quality, don't bother with them even if its cheap
I've got this in 65", it's my first 4k HDR TV so I'm no authority but honestly I've got buyers remorse. Not so bad that I want to get rid of it but IMO it's not bright enough to really push HDR content. Demos look great but all the 4K HDR movies I've watched look disappointing. Black levels aren't great and there's a fair bit of backlight bleed.

Evidence?
Do you even own this tv??

At least the old goldfish bowl TVs had room for speakers with reasonable sized baskets, these modern flat ones have hilarious speakers

Certainly not when compared to monitor Audio Silvers but there's no substitute for CCs

I don't own it but I own a newer model and the picture quality isn't as great as I would have liked.39865940-31fbh.jpg
