Top marks Stealthx, thats what this site is about. Too many people talk crap about X was available last week at £500 cashback ect.

    Some positive suggestion, top marks

That looks like a tidy suggestion. i have the boston acoustics XS SE which are discreet enough to appease the wife and powerful enough to do the job. These look like someone on a budget, with limited space would find them ideal. the fabric covers maybe dust catchers though.

I currently have this Pioneer all in one system (Passive sub … I currently have this Pioneer all in one system (Passive sub btw)http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/archive/DCS-222/page.htmlCould I upgrade to this Teac and use the existing speakers for the time being or do I need different speakers ?Primary reason for upgrading is extra inputs .

I'm doing something similar to you. You will need an active sub but the rest of your speakers you probably can use. You need to check the back of the speakers to see their maximum rating. My speakers are rated 100W maximum at 8 ohm and the output of this model is 100W at 8ohms (120W at 6 ohms) so I'm right at the edge of their rating although I think my centre speaker has a higher rating. However you may find you can connect your speakers even if less than 120W rating at 6 ohms or 100W rating at 8 ohms its just a matter of keeping volumes reasonable if you are slightly below the maximum rating. I used to work in a hifi shop many years ago and back then you would try to pair the amp and speaker so they were close together but nowadays people seem to drive speakers with amps that go above the speakers maximum rating. However as I don't want to be responsible for you blowing your speakers I will say be cautious about overloading your speakers and try to keep volume levels reasonable. The Teac is compatible with speakers from 6-16ohms. The higher the ohms of the speakers the higher the resistance and the harder the amp has to work.

It is possible you may be able to connect your passive sub somehow to the amp and configure it for subwoofer output perhaps by connecting to one of the side speakers terminals and selecting it for subwoofer output but its likely you will need an active sub. Another bodge is if you had an old set of full range speakers you might be able to add them in and set to full range output as usable but weak substitute for a subwoofer. I've seen this done on another home cinema amp and its was pretty good and still did a reasonable job of explosions etc in movies. Maybe the crossover setting might help. Also don't forget to set the speaker type as small as you don't want bass going to the pioneer speakers except the subwoofer of course.

Advice please....I have a set of Eltax Hollywood surround sound 5 speaker … Advice please....I have a set of Eltax Hollywood surround sound 5 speaker system - spec below. I'm assuming that they are too feeble? I don't aloe them but won't bother connecting them if they'll go pop immediately. Will they work? The center speaker runs with a sealed 2-way driver complement capable of driving 70W RMS with 120W peaks and sport dual 100mm shielded woofers and a 25mm shielded soft textile dome tweeter. Their response ranges between an 70Hz bottom-end and an upper cutoff point at 20,000Hz, running in 4-8 Ohms impedance and 88dB sensitivity. The rears blast only 40/60W (RMS/peak) and sport the same 2-way architecture, but running on a 19mm neodymium tweeter and sporting a lower, 70Hz bottom-end.The main speakers are 3-way, 4-driver units sporting dual 100mm cones for the midrange units and 25mm soft dome tweeters, in a d'Appolito array. The serious bass response comes from a 200mm side-firing woofer providing you with additional bottom-end thump for a better listening. These speakers range between 40 and 22,000Hz, being capable of 80/130W powers in the same 4-8 Ohms impedance and 90dB sensitivity. The Eltax Hollywood sells for around $300.

They'd work fine, and you don't need a sub; I reckon you'll get enough bass out of those speakers.

    stu867

Could you run this at 2.1?

Course. You could run it 1.0 if you wanted. Although I would suggest you at some point add a centre speaker as a priority for movie/TV watching. Then later you could add rears.

Yes, if your Megadrive has a composite video out, you can feed the receiver, and it in turn would feed your TV via HDMI Out.

    just noticed this
posted it on other richer sounds teac ag d200 post (non ebay one)
    so be careful

looks like someone is trying to profit here by buying some from richer sounds and selling at a profit
but not quite got the hang of it as they have listed them @ £25.99
or its a scam as they have copied the text from the richersounds ebay outlet page without the pictures
but also using richersounds picture as it says it underneath the amp
also shipping is from jan 9th to 16th but starts off saying

Please Note - Thursday 20th December 2012 is the last guaranteed shipping date to receive your item before Christmas.

We cannot guarantee delivery before Christmas if you order after 12pm on Thursday 20th.

If the original delivery attempt fails becaue no-one is available to sign for your item(s), we do NOT guarantee that we can re-attempt delivery before Christmas.

got no rating either so wont be ordering one of them as it'll just get cancelled anyway and take ages to get money back via paypal
like it did with comet an the psp go fiasco

check out the same spelling mistake here to the richersounds listing
If the original delivery attempt fails becaue
so clearly just copy and pasted it

Robcawsey - I don't think this would convert composite or other analogue feeds to HDMI, it has not inbuilt converter. If its a rebadged Onkyo 309 anyway. For a feature like that your looking at the Onkyo 609's (?) and above.

If anyone would like to clarify?

    Cheers

I'm with you on that. I have an old videologic DTS 5.1 set that i got by taking a company to court who tried to welch on their incorrect web pricing about ten years ago (before companies sorted out bomb proof terms and conditions), but not sure what i need now.

just picked up the unit. RS staff are top notch, but this system is so new they said didn't have any knowledge of the features it offers etc,and when confirmed the features online with them in store, they were quite surprised

Had a quick play earlier today. Attached an old iPod nano to the usb port at the front. The TEAC symbol appeared on the iPod screen and you could navigate with the remote through the iPod menus via the LCD display on the receiver. Browsing by albums, songs, artists, playlists all supported. I didn't expect anything but play/skip/back or just basic folder support via usb stick. Quite impressed with the functionality for such a cheap amp.
