Another fantastic set reduced by John Lewis & Partners

[ima3439151-PVAe0.jpghnics’ EAH-F50B stereo headphones provide a premium wireless listening experience, with authentically real-life sound with energy and spatial expansion. They support High Resolution Audio over a high-quality Bluetooth LDAC wireless connection, and their high-grade design ensures they stay comfortable over their long listening time.

40mm driver with air control structure
The EAH-F50B feature a 40mm dynamic driver and custom-designed diaphragm with high rigidity and internal damping. Powerful, soaring bass combines with a spatial ambience, making you feel like you were in the concert hall. Natural and high-frequency characteristics provide smooth and lustrous sound across the entire input range, so all the delicate nuances of the music are faithfully reproduced. Precise air control structure results in optimal air flow, ensuring the full-range capabilities of the driver are delivered.

High Resolution Audio
High-Resolution Audio support means compatible files are heard with studio quality sound, just as the artist originally intended. Based on encoding and playback at a higher sampling rate than standard, high and low frequencies are extended for a greater level of detail across the whole sonic range.

High quality wireless listening with Bluetooth and LDAC
Enjoy seamless wireless listening with Bluetooth. LDAC technology transmits approximately three times the amount of data as normal Bluetooth for a heightened listening experience, and seamlessly handles High Resolution Audio over a wireless connection.

Works with your voice assistant
Easily engage the smart assistant on your phone. So just by speaking you can select a track, make a phone call, check the weather forecast, and more.

High-grade design
The outer parts are constructed from aluminium with a spin finish for a premium look. A 3D ball joint mechanism ensures they fit at just the right comfortable angle, and polyurethane foam ear-pads fit snugly around the ears for improved sound isolation and maximum comfort. They last for up to 35 hours from a single charge, and, when you’re done, easily store the EAH-F50B with their swivel and fold mechanism

Headphone porn....
Well Switchy, got these from JL not long ago, I paid £229 so look, I'm not that good a buyer

However, these are hi-fi cans, worth every of (my) pennies, let alone £189 (Richer Sounds got to this lower price a while ago)

Build is excellent too, chip compatible with latest codecs, they're not quite over-ears, don't surround them but very comfy. And yes, no ANC for these so I use them indoors. Sound quality is awesome, that's what matters. No app, only downside I can think of

Which other headphones would you compare the sound quality and sound signature to? How's the bass?

They sound really good, all I can say, streaming 320kbps on Spotify: they're among the best-sounding cans around £200. I don't have equipment to measure the signature. Build is luxurious too.

Compared to the bose qc35ii? I'm currently using the bose with tidal master. They sound great rn, a significant difference when comparing to Spotify.

I own QC35 mark 1 and like it, they're so comfy, light and good, mainstream but refined sound. These are a 2019 model and therefore the BT chip is more advanced, QC35 mark 2 from 2018; not that there's much of a difference between AAC and LDAC, when using Spotify Premium.

Streaming Tidal hi-fi, LDAC on Technics cans can make a real difference. I'm personally not convinced, streaming lossless files on BT still involves compression I believe. But I'd also be surprised if it doesn't sound better than Spotify Premium, which is good enough for me. I just can't afford lossless streaming, my budget is £10pm.

Great customer service at John Lewis but seems this price from Peter Tyson and Amazon if you have any preferences (not sure warranty from Amazon)

These do look great and I love the design. My bose are just very comfortable and the sound is also amazing. I've also got Jabra Elite Active 75t and galaxy buds plus, and sennheiser rs 185, so I doubt I need more headphones/Earphones lol. There aren't that many reviews on it which is why I'm still on the fence.

How are these comfort wise?

Edit: could you also comment on the sound leaking?

No clue about leakage, live on my own so don't bother anyone, and don't use these outdoors as no ANC.

Comfort-wise they're pretty good BUT they're not over-ears, more like on-ears (otherwise I may have a massive melon, only other possibility)

Hmm thanks for that. I'll probs hold off in that case.

Just try them at JL (when they re-open stores)

I was blown away by both sound quality and build quality. More expensive, F70 model with ANC, has a variant in BROWN colour, one of the most gorgeous, exclusive cans I've seen, B&O kind of luxury
