Expert engineering

Beautiful form and master engineering come together to create the Technics Ottava S SC-C50 Wireless Smart Sound Speaker. The compact, elegant arc-shaped body houses six speakers and a subwoofer, all angled to produce brilliant room-filling sound.

From the deep bass of classic rock ballads, to the vibrant highs of a jazz quartet, the S SC-C50 handles them effortlessly. Technics' four bespoke processors manage each channel in perfect alignment, so every song sounds at its best, while LAPC (Load Adaptive Phase Calibration) optimises the entire frequency range to unlock the full potential of the speaker.

Space Tune

Wherever you decide to place the Ottava C50, you'll get great sound that reaches every corner. Pick the mode that describes where you've placed it, such as near the wall, and the speaker will boost the sound so you don't need to move around to find that sweet spot.

Alternatively, you can use the smartphone app and built-in microphone for greater precision. By optimising the audio to your space, you'll get a more refined sound any audiophile will enjoy.

Stream, cast, and group speakers

With Google Chromecast built-in, playing your music has never been easier. You can stream and cast from various apps on your smartphone, including Spotify and Deezer, and sync other Chromecast-enabled speakers for multi-room sound.

If you've already got a Google Assistant voice controlled speaker at home, you can also control the C50 using your voice. Tell Google what you want to play, control playback, and adjust the volume without touching the remote.

Listen your way

Even if your music is spread across different devices, the C50 makes it easy to listen. There's plenty of alternative connection options, including Bluetooth, DLNA, USB, or aux-in. You can even connect your TV or games console via the optical port to enhance your movies and games.

Your favourite internet radio stations, playlists, and tracks can be easily saved and found using the programmable buttons. There's no need to open the app to find out what's playing, as the OLED display shows you all the info you want.

Nice post OP, decent saving over their previous price as well as John Lewis and Richer Sounds. Decent reviews too

could this be used as a tv soundbar kind of thing
Lack of AirPlay makes this an expensive option. A refurbished Naim Mu-So Qb is available for £349, which would be a better buy (unless you need Chromecast).

If you never wish to own an Apple product, then this is a great option. I appreciate you kind of tagged that to the end of your post, but it's a rather key point!
Same price at John Lewis. Plus they say it has AirPlay!

As more android phones are sold than Apple now, the generalisation is incorrect but worth pointing out for those who have succumbed to the dark side
Been looking at this lately and something to add to my unnecessary lockdown spending!
any scope to get richersounds to price match? this doesnt include a warranty compareable to their six years
What is this, can barely find any reviews on YouTube. Is it better than Sonos if you already have 2 Sonos stero set up. Is this worth spending the money???

Also richer sound comes with 6 year warranty

You can get Chromecast on a 1st Gen Muso via a Chromecast audio dongle which can be picked up for about £20 on mymemory. If go for that over this personally.

Having heard the Technics C50 in a John Lewis store, I would say it sounds much better than the Mu-so, though the look may not be everyone’s cup of tea. Didn’t buy as it was priced at £699 then, at £399 it is very tempting indeed!

Nah. I rang them. Said they can do 449. I went for 399 as my 20 year old technics stack hifi is still going strong
I just checked and see AirPlay 2 was added via a Firmware update in 2019, so this is now with considering as it covers both Apple and Android users. The only missing feature is direct Internet Radio support, but this is included in the Technics App and looks like it can be added to one of the 9 favourites accessible directly on the speaker. This makes it a closer match for the Naim Qb.
