I have a similar 22 inch TV from Tesco with USB record. Came with a 4gb USB stick and I have also used it to record to an external hard drive. I tried a couple of external drives and found that it worked fine with a powered drive, but not with one that draws power from the USB port. Recording quality is very good.

I bought one of these exact same models for my wife's birthday in February - paid £140 too! :O

It came with a 4Gb USB stick - says PVR on it's silver metal casing.

Records the usual .ts file format [though adds other guff as well], so yes can be viewed on a PC. Decent enough PQ both on the set itself and the recorded files.

I've just ordered another for my daughter for Xmas

Right - Just loaded an .avi, .mkv and .mov file onto a stick.

Would only show [and play] the .avi [Divx] file under navigation of the media player bit.

If you read the reviews, I think it may come with a 4gb usb stick and you may be able to get an external hard drive to work with it, but I can't see that on Tescos web site so don't hold me to it.

Thanks for that information. I think this may do as well but as I couldn't verify it I didn't put it in the opening post. Only one reviewer mentions the usb size but two or three others mention 'recording times' and 'the usb'. Anyway a 4gb stick can be had for about £5 if it doesn't.

Do you know what format the recordings are in and will say a computer play them?

Even without the USB functionality, this is a good deal

(Still, I'd like to know more about the USB functionality)

    Which PAL type is this?

    Does it have aerial input?

For all you clubcard point collectors you might want to use this code. It will give you 500 points (worth £20 in reward deals). You can't use this in conjunction with the £10 off so it is only for serious clubcard point collectors!

Doubt if it would capable of playing H.264 mkv's but would appreciate it if someone could test it with any DivX/Xvid avi's.

    Thanks.

Just got it for the bedroom, seems like a good deal! never had any recording stuff before? Can it be set in advance with the guide? Not too fussed I guess for that price!

Can it play files from USB too? MKV!?

From memory, I don't think it can, but it will play the usual .avi files from what I recall - I'll give it a test and report back

Of course there will be no sound for DTS or DD encoded files.

Note these TV's are produced by skymediauk.co.uk/ though for some reason I see they don't have the manual available for this particular model.

In the event that this one sells out, I see they have a Logic model with 'USB record function' for £90 [plus shipping] shop.skymediauk.co.uk/sho…396 which probably uses the same hardware format.
