.... Is it any good? Didn't realise Blu Ray Players had come down so cheaply. Hot from me.

Original Poster

basic blu ray player but at this price cant complain

If you cannot afford a ps3 this looks good.

Reviews of sound and picture quality seem as good as the leading brands. However, I'm fairly confident it won't match them on build quality but even so, this price is very tempting. Seems to struggle with Quantum of Solace, Taken and some BD-50 discs but this problem seems to be common across the board and also affects leading brands. Should be resolved via a firmware issue but I'm not sure how or if Technika will bother making these available.

No mention of what audio decoders it has though.

This reminds me when i bought my fisrt dvd player a quite a few years back for 79.99 which was the cheapest at the time, i guess bluray will come down similarly within the next 5 years:thumbsup:

hot

but can this do avchd format? if it can im driving to tesco right now!

Not gonna vote on this, but you get what you pay for regards this kinda product.

According to this thread over at avforums, all audio formats except
DTS HD:MA.(post #1 in thread) Think I might get this if instock instead of the Sharp.
briane2021 seems very happy with his player.:-D

seems like a good price to try out

Erm, yea; cheap DVD players are never any good are they

Why is this so hot? If you can afford a 1080 TV then you can afford a decent Blu Ray. My tip is go to John Lewis and they all have 2 years warranty.

It's hot because not all people can afford a full 1080p HD telly with a top of the range blu ray player

Not really, just not as good as more expensive ones.

Well I was going to get a Panasonic BD30 as I dont like the smaller BD35
read the BD35 gets very hot.Cheapest I can get the BD30 locally is £199.99
from Argos clearance. The op an avforums states picture quality is as good as the
Panasonic and Sony so for a stand alone player to go with my two HD dvd players
this looks well worth a punt at £70:-D

hot deal, but why oh why, does neither the ballymena or antrim stores stock these items.

Great price, heat and rep.

Take a good look around..............Blueray will be dead in 2 years;-)

Maybe, but I'm pretty sure Blu-ray won't.

Voted HOT. Why are some people never satisfied? Its a good price for a well reviewed player, get a grip

does this have aux out to conect to surround sound system?.

Maybe, but it's the best out there at this present time, technology always improves over the month's/year's, but you'd never have anything if you waited all the time.

hopefully it has older standard DTS decoder then otherwise there will be some unhappy punters when they try watching a Bluray with only DTS audio (as some do)

even if you can afford a PS3, if you don't want an ugly noisy monster under your telly with a botched remote go for a sony or panasonic player:whistling:

My PS3 is near silent and work lovely with my Logitech Harmony one ;-)

Tempted by one of these for the bedroom though.

Well done! Bargain!!!!!!!!

Just bought one but no HDMI Cable. Bargain though!

This reminds me of when Tesco were selling the Wharfedale 750, which was the first mass-market "cheap" DVD player. My first player was a 750s, and it's still going strong to this day.

granted my 60gb is noisy, but that might be as its linked to a projector which also chucks out heat/noise. My gfs 80gb however is almost silent! The remote is fine as well, never ever had an issue with it and the fact its bluetooth and my ps3 sits behind me is awesome. Plus I quite like the ps3 looks wise too....

Not arguing with the price, although do think the sony whatever it is 350 one for £99 i think I saw in another thread is probably a better bet for those that want better build quality etc, although tbh it appears only the ps3 plays ALL Blu rays without a hitch.

To those that believe blu ray will be dead in two years or whatever, given that the UK has only just decided to get broadband of a very low speed to the whole country by 2012, i think its safe to say downloading files a few gig each isnt going to appeal to many. It certainly isnt practicle for me - with my standard connection (as the majority of the population have) it would take weeks to download a file that size and would mean browsing etc would be near impossible.
That is not to say it wont take off in other countries, i believe amazon sell download films to US customers already, but its not realistic for the UK market.

Can someone please tell me how to get this for £69.97 as it's showing £99.97 ]here
Is there a voucher I should be using? Thanks

This is a bargain. BluRay is cool. For £80, you really can't go wrong. Thanks very much

I had one of these...paid £150 for it...it was a darn good machine, until I introduced it to 'Taken' and 'Quantum of Solace' and it stubbornly refused to play them, and with no firmware update available, I took it back and got the Sony instead. Those issues asides, at the current price, it's a HOT deal, just be aware that it might not play some discs.

They will be 25 quid before too long.

Good deal.....

Spooky..... that was my first DVD player and it's still working too.

As a BD player, this is ideal a second option for say a bedroom.

I'm on my second samsung bdp-1500 (first one fried itself), if this is as good a sleading brands, then it's worth a go.

And the person who said blu-ray will be dead soon knows nothing....
