The HDMI cables in my poundland are only 1m long (ok if that's all you need though)

What is the difference between HDMI 1.3 and HDMI 1.3a, or 1.3b?For consumers, there is no difference between HDMI version 1.3 and 1.3a or 1.3b. These minor revisions to the specification typically relate to manufacturing or testing issues and do not impact features or functionality. In addition, HDMI Licensing, LLC is actively working with manufacturers to reduce confusion for consumers by de-emphasizing version numbers and focusing instead on product features and functionality. For Adopters, the latest HDMI Specification is v1.3a and the latest HDMI Compliance Test Specification (CTS) is 1.3c.

I've read somewhere that ordinary cables don't transmit HD 1020p signals, hence my comment. The good news is that my cable (which is the 1m from poundland) is enough and I dont need to buy another

These kinda things can be picked up on eBay at this price or very often less.

I think you'll find that it really doesn't matter how much you pay for a 5 metre and less cable - they all perform about the same. Over 5 metres is where you'll then need to look for a bit more quality.
