12 month warranty, refrubished. There's 2, the STBHDIS2010 you can upgrade the firmware (see link) to get iplayer. There's also an £5 more upscaling version but I can't find anyone on the internet who has been able to upgrade the firmware to get iplayer.

These usually go very quickly.

Firmware installation instructions (earlier software version just follow using the 225 firmware ch-zero.tv/sup…ort

The upscaling version with iplayer unconfirmed ebay.co.uk/itm…42f

Good reviews and apparently the picture is very good. My toshiba freeview which comes with a DVD recorder isn't very good so hoping this will be better and it will have iplayer.

Only has an ethernet port, use this to make it wireless

I don't think all just HD channels. I don't have a HD telly so I don't know which channels come in HD.

I thought if I had a hd tv then hd chanels were in hd and if I got the hd box I would get it all in hd.

Downstairs I have everything in hd, its just the bedroom thats not. I am confused lol

It's just BBC 1 &2 ITV and Ch4.

I think you'll find that it's

BBC1

ITV1

Channel 4 and

BBC HD (which is NOT BBC2 but they do show a lot of BBC2 content as well as some BBC3 and BBC4 programmes)

I've got one of these, got it from the outlet around a year ago (£20 then) and it appeared brand new.

Works pretty well. If I turn it on from the switch on the front, I lose sound occasionally and the menus can lock up. If I use the remote it's fine. The odd glitch and out of sync occasion but generally works very well.

I tried the new firmware on it and the iPlayer seems to work pretty well. The other channels which require an internet connection sprang into life but none of them work and one of them even crashed the box (went into a CRC reboot)

This is a great box have two in the house, great find, heat added

All gone, expire.

No TV service has "everything" in HD - even Sky, so whatever your downstairs TV has it isn't all in HD. If you aren't really noticing the difference between SD and HD then I don't think you really need to bother upgrading other TVs!

I've been watching them on ebay go for more than this and that's without warranty. Not many boxes have iplayer. My local Tesco sells them for £40 but as I can watch iplayer on my laptop that was a bit too much.

That clears a lot up. I have a 3d Pany in the front room and when I switch between hd and the non hd chanels I dont see any difference. Now I know I am getting more or less hd quality from that tv I am happy, now just the other one to sort out. Its never ending all this!

The chanels that say they are hd, I thought those were for the people that didnt have a full hd tv. I feal like a div now.

Should have gone to Specsavers.

No, the channels that say HD are the HD channels! Some TV's are very good at up-scaling SD TV though, so if yours does it well enough for you not to notice the difference then just stick with that!

Hadouken!

On a serious note, I have this box - also bought refurbished - it's perfectly functional, the iPlayer is solid.
It is very easy to flash and upgrade the firmware with a USB memory stick.
Only drawbacks are that the menus aren't aesthetically pleasing and it has a habit of occasionally locking up and freezing, but then again what do you expect at this price?

I got this box about a year ago. Excellent box, receives all channels and also BBC iplayer if you update the firmware. Only thing i noticed was that it didn't like certain hdmi leads and the hd channels would cut out but a change of lead sorted that out.

Being really thick .How do you download the firmware upgrade .All I seem to get when i press all the download buttons on the link is something call 'ilivid ' but no sign of the firmware file .Am i missing something? The one at the bottom which says 'download file from sendspace. A window will pop up (another advert) and also a dialogue box to save the file.

DON'T download or accidentally install iLivid. It is essentially malware and should be banned. Atrocious companies allow them to still trade on their websites.

I have adblocker so I didn't see any of that.

I have this since last year and it produce excellent HD pictures. I also upgraded it to the latest firmware but there are no bbc iplayer? Do I have to use the ethernet port and connect it to my router to get iplayer?

You need to have the ethernet port connected to your router then you press the channel zero (looks like an ohm) button and it appears as an option on the bottom left on mine.

Yes - it has to connect to the internet.
