you're not missing much

me-thinks lots of returns after the world cup or when people find out how strong the signal needs to be...and belive the box is broken

I work for tesco, and we had loads of these brought back with customers complaing of the picture freezing,so be warned, they may have updated the firmware to fix this, but personally I wouldn't touch it

Did I read right.... 3 HD channels?

You're kidding right?

For those who lost their EPG when the channel supplying this disappeared (including my Sony PVR) it is a viable option.

so you want them to subsidise the massive extra cost of posting it offshore?
How would they do that? raise prices?
No thanks

whats wrong with that?

The Tesco outlet returns policy is almost as good as the regular Tesco's direct/in-store policy!

As buggy firmware obviously falls within the domain of manufacturing faults, you're entitled to:

Orders will be despatched via Royal Mail or Parcel Force. Most items will be sent out the next day but we aim to despatch all orders within 2 working days of cleared funds. Parcel Force deliveries MUST be signed for. We regret that we are only able to despatch goods to the United Kingdom mainland

For an item this size, the Royal Mail cost is the same to London, Glasgow, or NI...they're just taking the p1$$ as usual, it's a blanket statement in case someone buys a 42" TV...sadly the numpties at Tesco can't be bothered to have more than one policy...

It's the same price for the general public, but given the number of parcels Tesco will generate I'm sure they will have a special arrangement with Royal Mail.
The terms of such a special arrangement may well put a premium on postage beyond the mainland. Afterall, a parcel that utilizes more of Royal Mail's network will clearly cost the company more to deliver.

I expect the flat-rate exposed to the general public is in-place for fairness to all tax payers, afterall Royal Mail is still subsidised in-part by the government.

Expired. Listing and relisted item ended.

Another case of companies negotiating a dirt cheap ( for them) courrier service as long as the courrier does not have too far to take it,see some of the surchrges some companies add to deliver to Scotland , N I and Cornwall, when you say to they I will arrange my own collect , they refuse in most cases.

to be fair to others they do offer a good and fast delivery to the whole UK (usually), just restricts choice for some of us, who will not accept these rip off surcharges, , not moaning just stating a fact

You don't pay, you don't get.

Not so much that as simply lack of radio spectrum available from terrestrial transmitters. $ky wouldn't be able to do any better given the technical constraints. If you want more free HD channels you have to go for Freesat HD, for which, of course, you need a dish.

No 4HD on Freesat though
