unless people still thinks VHS, 1080p on a 65" must be awful and really crap with any sort of broadcast.

Hardly going to be VHS quality. A good 1080P source can be projected onto far larger screens and still wouldn't suddenly look like a mouldy VHS tape. SD material will suffer but in this day and age it shouldn't really be necessary to watch that much in SD, we have had HD long enough to build up plenty of Blurays and lots of streaming HD services about. If you insist on using only the internal Freeview you aren't going to get a great experience (as much of it is still only SD) but the same could be said of any set really...

Can anyone confirm if the motion rate looks pants?

Depends how far you are sat away. I've got a 70" 1080p set and I'm sat 15 feet from it. With a bluray on its superb.

I would say that best size compromise for 1080p should be no more in absolute than 46" and provided that the source is very good. That would incidentally be half of the size of a 65".

Keep the distance the diagonal `x` at least 3 times size of tv

I think this is probably the same one as the digihome from Tesco last year that got good reviews.

I do notice that SD is pretty poor when watching sport and even in HD (freeview HD not 1080P) ther eis an issue that the ball doesn't move smoothly when watching the tennis.

Normal TV is fine although you really notice the poor bit rate on some stations or low quality youtube etc.

I'm very happy with our 65" tesco telly.

good pice for a cheap 65'' hd tv
