Tesco
Tesco: claims the move is designed to prepare consumers for digital switchover

Tesco has unveiled what it claims is the UK's cheapest digital set-top box, aiming to outdo its high street rivals with a £10 model on sale from today.

Manufactured by Techwood, the digital TV box offers the standard 40 Freeview digital terrestrial TV channels and numerous radio stations, at half the cost of the previous cheapest set-top box

Sorry about double post,i see whats happened,i posted mines under Tesco Direct as it states available for delivery, and yours is in the Tesco deals section, that's why i did'nt see yours.

Thanks for posting this, brilliant first deal hot & rep left.

Noticed a banner up when I went past Tesco in Swansea (llansamlet) this morning, so its probably a UK wide promotion.

well known I guess, but take nothing away from the original poster - great first deal heat + reped.

voted hot. Good deal thanks

It would be interesting to find out what anyone thinks about it if they buy one. It could be the one reviewed here...

If it is there could be another reason other than "preparing consumers for digital switchover" as to why they are only £10.

Here's piccy of box......

Oh dear.. awful reviews.
Someone on that site said Argos will be doing a box for £10 soon.
Might be better to wait and see what that one is.

Look similar but there's no LED on the Digihome one and the circle bit is much bigger.

If it is the same one the reviews are a mixed bag, you get that with the cheaper stuff, less quality assurance. I'll probably take the gamble if its in stock when drop into tesco on the way home tonight.

It is clearly from the same factory though, I have a Digihome one, it is fine.

It isn't just the cheaper ones that get " mixed bag " reviews, take a look at Sony Reviews..

My dad has a few different techwood freeview boxes and they're actually pretty good. Quick, simple navigation through the menus and the EPG. Voted Hot!

Well if you buy it now you can try it for a few days.
If it's rubbish (or you can't get a signal for some channels) you can always take it back for a refund
You should get over 40 channels.

The same box and cat no was on sale @ Tesco for £29.97,found this cached, all the specs etc.

thanks , will check out tesco later. inshallah (god willing).

bought an alba one from marshallward.co.uk for my dad the other day for £15 with a £10 off discount.

thought the alba one might be rubbish chep make, but its turned out fine.

also you dont need to hook it up on an outside ariel for reception, it does fine with a £3 ariel.

Saw this in the newspaper today was going to post it up

That is not the one I get when I ordered from Amazon, I got exactly the same one as tesco is selling with led and large button

This is a great box its a rebadged digihome one (and SEG) Ive had the digibox version for over a year and the picture it pulls in is superb much better than my Thomson box which cost £90, the only problem is the remotes can eventually break but you can get decent replacements on ebay for around £6.

thanks to the original poster

loads of these in the Cambridge newmarket road branch

thanks, great post.

and whats up with you all!!! £10.00 what more do you want for your money, as long as you get all freeview channels whats the problem.!

Blackpool Extra store doesn't have any. Ran out prior to my visit at about 12.30....
They were unsure if they were getting any more in. Mind you if this is an attempt by Tesco to grab the moral high ground in digital broadcast recievers now the big switch off is upon us I would expect them to repeat perhaps even enlarge this offer.

As I said, hardly a reason to panic is it? the deals HOT and I voted thusly, but lets be honest, Tesco are doing it to make money, not help people with the switchover. For your light entertainment......

The SIM has £10 of talktime and I wanted a SIM for my spare phone.
Got £5 off £40 with the TDX-WILL05 code posted on here.

So for an extra £13.96 on top of the cost of the Freeview box I got the SIM with £10 credit, 8 brush heads for my toothbrush and 2 oven mitts delivered to my door saving me the hassle of trailing to my local Tesco to see if they have the Freeview box.

Great price, shame as I made a Tesco Direct order last night, would have waited a day had I known and added one to my basket.

Will try to grab one in my local branch tomorrow.

Use £5 off code: TDXR-5CCMA, Edi told me this code only works for certain accounts, It works for me atleast..

shahidemran - You should have added a Tesco Value Sim to your cart too and then it would have been free delivery, the cheaper one is only £3.45 or something so even if you throw the sim away you have saved £1.40.

Got one from Tesco Extra Oak Tree Lane store Mansfield, still had a few left on the shelf.

Plugged it in and after a 3 min scan all the freeview channels popped up.

All I can say is great value for a tenner !

Sold Out Online. ugh.

I hope these don't turn out to be like the cheap £9 DVD players that Asda did that only a few people managed to get!

Now out of stock at Tesco Direct. Was in the process of going through the checkout, when it was removed from my basket. Someone else beat me to it:-(

When I went to Tesco Home plus earlier today they had a fair load ...... as a guesstimate 50. They were labeled up as a special purchase. Anyone near the vicinity of Chelmsford should go there if they are after ONE

sold out in my tesco Corstorphin Edinburgh too....duh..
Do you think they will bring more stock in?

tara

 Bought one in Tesco, Borehamwood at 5.30pm today and they still had quite a few there! Don't know if that helps anyone. Haven't set it up yet.

got one for the back room - fantastic value and gets the best reception in the house from a knackered old ariel I had lying around! Typical! :giggle:
