Is this/are these better than the Chuiwi Hi8 Dual-Boot Windows 10/Android 5.1 Tablets?, or ..... I'm curious?, thanx. :-)
Original Poster
Very few reviews out there at the moment but of course, the Teclast has Z8300 Cherry Trail processor compared to the Chuwi Hi8's Z3736F (higher clock turbo speed than the Z3735F commonly found in the Linx tablets).
http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Atom-x5-x5-Z8300-vs-Intel-Atom-Z3736F

Battery Capacity in the Teclast is 3.8V/3800mAh compared to 4000mAh with the Chuwi Hi8.

Chuwi has a 1920 x 1200 WUXGA Retina Screen, Teclast has 1280 x 800 WXGA.

Comparison (also compares the Chuwi Vi8) devicespecifications.com/en/…242 note this Teclast X80 Plus is dual boot.

I would avoid Gearbest presales as they take money immediately and it takes an age to actually get the item. Better off waiting until everywhere gets actual stock and starts shipping if your gonna but from China. I know from experience.

Looks good for the price though.
Recently I bought a smart phone from them and was promised immediate delivery. Guess what....after receiving the payment, they never emailed me but sent a message to my Gearbest a/c only that it is not in stock and I have to wait for a month and then another month for delivery. I asked for refund that is taking ages as well. Still fighting through PayPal. I thnik they invest our money somewhere and if they get profit from that investment then we get our products after few months time.

Spot on. Just this week I preordered a Teclast X98 Plus dual boot on 27/12/15. On 16/1/16 they took payment. On 18/1/16 they cancelled the order without explanation and offered me the options to a) credit to my 'gearbest wallet' or b) choose something else. I politely insisted on my own option c) 24 hours to refund in full or I will escalate to PayPal. It worked. The learning is to use PayPal if possible, act quickly and don't be fobbed off. I have had several other items in the past from gearbest with no problems but next time I will check the stock position first.
1200X800.... yewww
Incidentally, if you choose carefully some of these Chinese tablets are terrific value for money albeit you're stuffed if it goes wrong. I have a Chuwi Hi 8 dual OS 8" screen tablet and for sixty quid the spec and performance is amazing. I suspect the only reason why there are no dual boot tablet/PC's on the British market is that the Microsoft and other vested interests don't want us to. The Teclast X80 is one I personally would buy.

Agreed, anything higher on an 8" screen is wasted, unless you get windows to scale for you, it's unusable, then you might as well have had the lower resolution in the first place. If you're using it as a media player, then re-encode the files, makes them smaller, you can fit more into the storage, and honestly you can't tell the difference, if the films worth watching you won't notice the difference.

Two q's for the better-informed: does this Z8300-based item run 64bit windows (unlike Z3735F-based 64bit models) and will x265/HEVC be natively supported? Thanks.
I've been getting more and more interested in these things. I've found Techtablets.com as a decent looking resource. Can anyone else recommend anywhere else? Sorry if it's a little off topic. Heat added OP

Raise a dispute via Paypal, then escalate it to a claim. Call paypal afterwards and you should be able to get your money back quickly.
With the x2 pro would go on sale
full hd is good on a tablet ..grt lower res if you want it eg this tablet .. but fullhd is noticeable and def a step up. This is nice but 8 in is dead to me now, gotta be 10in or greater .. and dual boot would give the best of both worlds.
And as to re encoding films .. no dont do it..

Chris on TechTablets is doing a great job. The Techtablet forums are good for answering questions. Not found anywhere better but chinagadgetsreviews.com is good also. Some exciting products due out from china during 2016 including Surfce Pro/ Lenovo Yoga clones. There are loads of chinese PC /tablet reviews of varying quality on youtube.

Around 6:52 youtu.be/5Wp…404 (focussing is a bit erratic) you can just make out that the tablet is 32-bit Windows 10 Home. Not sure if it will be like the Chuwi Hi10, where early batches were released with 32-Bit Windows 10, then later batches were 64-bit. It isn't mentioned in the listing, unlike the Chuwi's was, though. And the Hi10 has 4GB RAM compared to the 2GB this one has.

Can't answer your other question

Why do you want to run 64bit Windows on a 2GB RAM model? I think 64bit is actually detrimental in that situation.

Hmm, good point. It wasn't quite clear from your initial question.
As far as I can tell the only downside of 64bit Windows on a 2GB machine is that it wastes (precious) memory as pointers are usually 64bit instead of 32bit.

Edit: This review (bestchinatablets.com/tec…il/) claims it runs Win 10 Home 64bit. It's a bit unclear whether they refer to the X80 Pro or Plus, though.

The Pro and the Plus are different tablets. Says £88.54 but I'm guessing Gearbest have yet to put it officially on sale gearbest.com/tab…tml (Listed as Windows 10 only, I'm guessing a dual boot version is on the way).

The only difference is the 1920 x 1200 screen by the looks of it http://techtablets.com/2015/10/new-8-cherry-trail-tablets-the-teclast-x80-pro-and-x80-plus/

How is this a deal, a Chinese phone with a bad screen, no guarantee, pay import tax, and when you get it it will be inferior to any thing you've ever seen. Oh well, you pay what you get? If your dint want to pay then I can only assume you want this lucky packet phone?

Except, it's not a phone, it's a tablet. Many HUKDers are interested in the Chinese tablets because they're higher specced compared their UK counterparts for the price.

I haven't ordered from Gearbest so I can't comment on import duty....but I know after a while you get an EU Warehouse option and not just shipped from China only. Depends how quickly you want to jump on the bandwagon

This "phone" is a fully fledged Windows computer.
I'm tempted to get one exclusively for online banking. That way I don't have to worry about visiting non-banking (or "dodgy") websites or installing games on my main PC as I would do all online banking tasks on the tablet. I'm leaning towards a 4GB model, though.

Windows on an 8" screen is horrendous and not worth having, in my experience.

Thankfully this tablet has the option to use Android - I wish my 8" tablet had that option!

Sounds too good to be true! What's the catch? No warranty? Reliability issues? Dodgy touchscreen? Exploding batteries?
I have 9.7 " screen version of this tablet. Took about 2 weeks for delivery from Gearbest from Chinese warehouse and was lucky not to get any import duty. it's very fast and screen is exelent. it does run out of juice pretty quick though.
Looks very iPad Air-esque. The marketing images look especially Apple like!

Interesting comments on the Chuwi Hi10 page on TechTablet about Cherry Trail vs Bay Trail. http://techtablets.com/2016/01/chuwi-hi10-and-onda-obook-reviews-online/

Chris January 20, 2016, 2:06 pm
Not real gain on the Z8300 Vs Z3735F, just in 3dmark11 and other more demanding games maybe a light increase. But the higher clocks in the Z3736F tend to win despite the lower GPU 4 EUSs vs 12 EUS. I would really like to see the Chuwi Hi10 with a Z8550 when released.

The substantial advantage of Cherrytrail Z8300 in comparison to Baytrail Z37xx is the 64Bit UEFI Bootloader!
Baytrail was limited to Factory-built Android (plus custom-modifications) and Windows 32Bit, while Cherrytrail lets you install virtually every OS which is currently out there (including pretty much each and every Linux distribution)!

Several phones/gadgets from them and never any duty. Come by Yodel or NL post (though the last Miband <$30, so no duty, came via Germany).
