You have been very unlucky. If they are original Ted bakers I would drop them an email with some pics. I have 3 pairs and they are fantastic shoes. Wouldn't buy anything else.

It’s not a brogue. No metal eyelets for a start. But it’s also not an Oxford, nor is it a brogued Oxford, which would at least explain the eyelets. I actually don’t know what it is?!? (Other than an ugly shoe)

I managed to order 10 pairs , will make a nice little profit on these.

Yeah maybe £10 a pair minus any postage costs etc. Better off doing a days work
They are seconds. Check the stitching when you get them.

Perhaps that's why I can't order a pair

Apparently there is such a thing as an Oxford Brogue. Mind. Blown.

I work in footwear - yes it's an Oxford Brogue. 'Oxford' refers to the eyelet tabs being attached under the vamp (the front, so it closes to a point/V shape instead being open/flappy) - nothing to do with the eyelets being metal or not as 'j2hot' stated.

Brogue is the punching/styling which you correctly identified.

I worked for Churches for a number of years buddy, and one of the defining characteristics of a brogue is the visible metal eyelets. I also at no point mentioned anything about the characteristics of an Oxford shoe.

The eyelets are metal yes if that's what you mean, however they're blind. A two second google will prove brogues don't need visible eyelets; even the Wikipedia image for a brogue doesn't have visible eyelets.

Or, as you worked for Church's, you can go right onto their website & click on the Tarvin Betis, and it is described as a 'brogue' - no metal eyelets to be seen: church-footwear.com/it/…AXO
