Tefal ActiFry Health Fryer, 1 kg, £89 with code TDX-KNHT at Tesco Direct

Found 19th Apr 2015
Listed price of £99. Use code TDX-KNHT, (available to everyone), to knock it down to £89. Available in Black and White.

Paddle automatically rotates your food
1200W
1kg food capacity.

Apparently it cooks chips, curries, stews, stir fries and more with just a spoon full of oil and hot air. Also includes a digital timer and audible alert.

Is also "easy to clean with some dishwasher safe parts.".

Reviews look very good and I personally have only good to speak of Tesco customer service.

I've been looking out for one of these for quite a while thanks to me not wanting to have a normal fryer and the other half whinging about the fact the "chips just won't cook right!". Missed out on the last Tesco deal for the Philips one, (they somehow managed to send it to the wrong store and then cancelled the order), and have been looking out for a good health fryer ever since.

This one looks like it! Whinge free, oil free, crispy chips, here we come!

Hope this helps someone!

Very good price. Heat from me.

cheap as chips.

anyone used one of these are they any good?

Use one almost every day, so much better than using a deep fat fryer, mainly use it for fresh chips and frozen chips ,easy to clean no mess the only slight niggle is that it does get a bit noisy.

We just recently bought the 1.2kg version from Amazon for £100, and it's amazing! Makes absolutely delicious chips and sausages. Not tried anything else in it yet but even just as a chip maker it's worth the price of asking. They turn out pretty much as you'd expect from any fryer, except not dripping in fat.

I have one of these also and cannot recommend it enough!! If mine broke i would buy another in a heartbeat! Ive also cooked sweet potato fries, chicken nuggets, prawns and a chilli in mine and theyve come out lovely. Tried fish fingers aswel but the coating mostly came off lol.

Bought the latest model and wish I had of bought one years ago,we use it 3-4 times a week.

Good deal. Mine did break :-( The paddle snapped when doing oven chips once. Believe that they improved the design but they are mostly plastic material.

Ive had mine for a couple of years and no problem. The pan's handle is week so careful how you wash it up. To now, I had only made chips which its worth its weight in gold for. I tried sausages and chips same time and that worked a treat. Ive very happy with mine.

Ordered for my mum who swears by them.Havent took the plunge myself but maybe will in the future.Code worked but charged me £3 for delivery which isn't bad for the Orkney Islands.Voted hot. Thanks for sharing

doh! forgot to add code.
cancelled and reordered with the code

How many portions of chips does this cook ?

this or the Philips airfryer? Can't decide

For £99.99 and free delivery in white but is the 'plus' version with a larger food capacity of 1.2 kg

we've got an older actifry. but the chips are amazing n crisp with it.

jeez man just make oven chips

Already got the Philips air fryer for £69 @tesco direct from a post on here, delivered to local store for free

But still a good deal

Works great. Try putting some garlic flavoured olive oil in to cook the chips.

At least with this you know its real potato and not recontituted. I just remembered I do onions in mine. put then in after the chips else they cook first. Im tempted to get the 1.2kg one for a spare while they are cheap.

worst thing I ever bought! used a variation of chips using this, and it took forever to cook and just turned the chips to mash. rubbish. took it back to ARGOS to show photos of the rubbish chips it mad. Got a full refund. good price but I would never buy ever again!!

Best kitchen gadget we have ever bought, had it about 5 years now and it's used daily, best thing I do is put red salt on before cooking and the chips come out coated in it, taste amazing.

I have one and it's really amazing. Used nearly every day. I also have a friend who got one on my recommendation and cannot for the life of them use it and think it's rubbish. Each to their own but imo it's fantastic!

How do you cook curries and the like in this? Can you just throw chicken and a pre-made sauce into them and wait? Is it not a nightmare to clean?
Very tempted by it but not sure how much use i'd get other than chips..

Ive not tried curries for that reason. But they are easy made in a big pot then you have leftovers to freeze

brill make best chips l use one spray instead of olive oil chips come out the same

sausages, chips, chicken are lovely in these.

Does this actually work properly?
We have the breville variant and the paddle constantly gets stuck and we are having to remove some chips which have wedged up under paddle then start again
Poor design
Also on occasions the chips turn out like mash due to the paddle squishing them!

out of interest, how long does a portion of chips take? Is that freshly chipped potatoes... or frozen, ready to fry? I guess you can't/maybe shouldn't use oven chips as they're already coated

Just make sure you take out the extra insurance as lots break within 2 years! Do a quick internet search!!!

Absolutely rubbish product. First the lid cracked on mine, then paddle broke and finally gears on the motor are gone. It is year and a half old. I would rather go for Philips airfryer as it does not have any moving parts.

i had one,the paddle broke at 12months then the actifry broke 14months

My father uses the "Igenix 6 in 1 multi chef", its basically a teal actuary on steroids, he loves it

They are fantastic, had one for over a year and its used every day. Super simple and makes chips better than in a fryer!

hot, Ill return my airfryer for this

I got one for £90 from Curry's as a Christmas present for a relative and took out the 3 year instant replacement warranty for an extra £20. It does brilliant chips, but I've already had to take it back for a replacement once. No big deal with the warranty...just a minor inconvenience, but something to be aware of if you're going to rely on it.

No it doesn't. It takes around 30 minutes. Anyway, I've told you a million times, do not exaggerate.
