These are great appliances. If you don't need the bigger one then this perfect for all of your frying needs. We had the original and now the largest one they make and we'd never go back to deep frying again.

Safer, cleaner, and no nasty smell either

thanks a good deal.

Although the title on amazon says 1.2 kg, if you read the description, it says 1kg capacity!!

That's true although in the detailed description it states 1.2kg and bearing in mind its amazon they will refund no problem if it is a mistake.

Just googled the model number - GH840B40 and it is the 1.2KG version

I have the one that looks like bb8. Truly an amazing device. I use mine for fish, mushrooms, beef, chicken and less frequently chips

Is this the best acti fryer?
I know there are a few brands out there

Phillips one is better i think. Its air fryer its called

When the chips are down....... Eat them

It's a **** machine with a crap warranty. Don't even buy for this price!!!

What's a better alternative machine to this?

As this is the original ACTIFRYER, then I think reading around that no other brand has been able to better it although these sound like they could be more flimsy than the previous generation of the same machine.

I've had five of these in three years and my sister three in two years. Yes five since they kept all breaking and learned my lesson after the first one to take out the Argos extended warranty. Last time Argos swapped me for a Phillips AirFyrer and I must admit from being a fan previously despite them always breaking I much prefer the Airfyrer now.

good price I put McCain chips in mine they come out great.

Brilliant, thanks

Yea I've had 3 and all broke just after warranty they are flimsy and plasticky where it should be metally! Takes a long time (45 minutes!)to cook chips as well as basically its like a hot hair dryer blowing on the food. You can buy replacement paddles etc. but the bits that break are usually non-replaceable, which is a shame cause I liked mine but wouldn't buy another now. Once bitten - twice -shy!

I had the very 1st one which was really good although the paddle broke and the plastic top cracked. replaced with the newer 2 in 1 actifry which was a bit rubbish as stuff in the bottom took ages to cook and practically stopped cooking as soon as the upper tray was used. So sold this and got the breville halo fryer, which is OK its nothing special and does the job. the halo pro or plus whatever its called is supposed to be good so may try that next if the need arises to replace the one I have.

I think this is the best - certainly for chips, but like they say you pays your money and takes your choice

These are so poorly designed/made. I've had 2 break on me, both around the 1 year mark and my Father in law is on his 4th in 3 years! We both only replaced ours because of Costco's fantastic returns policy.

Aldi have launched one today. Anybody bought it yet?

I would recommend the Breville HALO+ - under £80 at argos right now ... linky

How do these compare to the Aldi ones?

You bought one and it broke just out of warranty so you bought another.
That broke just out of warranty too.
So you bought a third one, which also broke just out of warranty???

(_;)

yup they were all HotUKdeals! ;-) and my son loved the chips..you gotto do for your family..UNTIL the third time with each newer and improved models all failing... so never will I buy a Tefal again even if its a great HUKD offer!

Considering there's a lot of love for the Philips AirFryer in here too, thought I would just mention that it's also same price at £79.99 at Amazon,

It's the HD9220 model, not sure how that compares in size to this one.

Yeh, definitely worth waiting now for most purchases, only a fortnight away.
Although I did get our AirFryer from Amazon fro £52 in July. Wish it had more capacity but the bigger models are way too expensive. Cheaper to buy 2 regular sized ones.
