Cheapest I have ever seen this, thought £85 from Argos a few weeks ago would never be beat..Bargain

Are these any good? Very new to all these machine.

Unusually for JTF the price includes VAT.

yes these are brilliant, use mine twice a day usually to make sweet potato fries. chuck some coconut oil in and start it and wait 30 mins, so easy. heat.

Got one of these. Really good machine. Makes food taste good. Chicken and chips its brilliant.

Can I bake with that? thanks

You clearly haven't clicked the link, it states "inc vat".

What's the difference with the plus?

Isn't a halogen cooker a better investment as you can cook a whole chicken?

Sort of. This is just a halogen with a rotating paddle. For chips and the like the Actifry will cook more evenly albeit more slowly. Main thing is that Actifries tend to die just after the manufacturer's warranty expires as mine did. I just stick to standard halogens now.

Philips does not turn food so only fan assisted oven not fryer. Wastes time and energy opening and turning food.

have used tefal and philips, i'd get the tefal as its bigger and moves the food around so more even cooking.

How does turning the food turn it into a fryer? These are all just compact ovens, really. If you like baked food, great. If you want fried food, fry it.

The images on the website and the posting are of the "Actifry Original" not the "Actifry Plus" (which is 1.2Kg rather than 1Kg). The website details appear to be screwed up.

had one of these years its my most used kitchen item amazing price voted HOT

The best bit of kit you could have in your kitchen! Heat Added!!

I'm not sold at all.
I have my eye set on a halogen cooker (still undecided which one) that will cook a whole chicken as well as chips.

What does it say on the box? Fryer or oven? Philips does not do what it says on the tin so very misleading. Plus waste of energy and time. Potentially danger as to open hot food constantly to turn it.

only 1kg these are usually cheap enough these days.

so reading the above and I posted a question about these yesterday would we all be better of buying a halogen version of these and if so which make and model are all halogen best all combined ?

I too would like to know what halogen cookers folks use.
I understand its the bulb that goes and can be £12 approx so easy to change bulb essential.
My fan assisted oven takes 10 mins to reach 180 degrees - what a waste
Halogen is instantaneous.

I've had 2 Tefal Actifrys the original one which run for just over a year then died i took it apart repaired it and it run another 6 month then motor burned out,
The last one i had is the model prior to this and that worked until just out it's warranty and motor went on that too

Although the Actifry was alright when working I'd never buy anything from Tefal again, I didn't use it loads it basically imo isn't built to last

I've been told Phillips lasts longer than Tefal. So, I'll get a Phillip.

Heat added. Good deal.

Great price. These are brilliant. Great chips with olive oil and hardly any mess.

The actifry is a fan oven based product not a halogen oven. a halogen oven cooks food by holding a heat source (glorified light bulb) over your food. the actifry blows hot air over the food and rotates the food at the same time to evenly cook it. completely different products, its like comparing an electric oven and a microwave.

Yes I though hot air was the difference.
Thank you for taking the time and trouble to write your helpful post.

Thanks

most people knocking air fryers have never even owned one in my experience, they give it the old "I just spray hand cut chips with my magic oil and turn them in a normal oven every 6 seconds for 2 hours then perfect chips" when we know no oven chips come even close to the crispy delights you get out of an air fryer!! my top tip....goto chippy..buy bag of chips, leave go cold... fry in an air fryer for 10 min BEST chips youll ever have

nearly 80 quid for less flavour, pass. i take my triple cooked chips over this tosh anyday, only a clueless moron would buy a cooking device that takes away flavou. looks like we have plenty here, haha
