Fry your family's favourite food in a healthier way using only one spoonful of oil with the Tefal ActiFry Plus GH840040 Air Fryer.

Delicious chips with only 3% fat

By adding just one spoonful of any oil – including olive and rapeseed oil – you can make up to 1.2 kilograms of your favourite foods in a much healthier way. Make crispy home-made chips easily, or cook from frozen without the need for any oil at all.

The GH840040 is 20% larger than the original ActiFry and can cook 4-5 portions of a range of foods. Perfect for both fresh and frozen meals, you can cook everything from curries and casseroles to stir-frys and risottos.

Patented hot air system and unique stirring paddle

Tefal's patented hot air system allows you to cook evenly without the need for excess oil. And with the stirring paddle there's no need to shake or stir your food during cooking.

Easy to clean, removable parts

Once everything is cooked, you can easily remove the lid, pan and stirring paddle and put everything in the dishwasher along with the spoon.

The scratch-resistant pan is coated with durable ceramic so that any leftover foot inside can be washed away without any hassle.

Convenient design for ease

Sit back and relax while the ActiFry cooks, safe in the knowledge that the timer will alert you when everything is done. And if you want to keep an eye on your food, the large steam-free viewing window ensures your food is cooked just the way you like it.

With its own recipe booklet, as well as a huge range of recipes and videos available on the My ActiFry App, the ActiFry Plus is ideal for making a variety of meals for the whole family.

The Tefal ActiFry Plus GH840040 Air Fryer is temperature controlled for the perfect crispy chips every time, which requires no pre-heating so that it's ready when you are.

People do realise these are just convection ovens with fans? Also known as a fan assisted oven. They don’t fry! The “Air Fryer” term is a Marketing phrase which makes it sound like you’re getting something new and amazing. It’s just a counter top oven. They’re also noisy!

This any good?

We have this and it's brilliant! This is our second ever ActiFry after we upgraded and gave the old one to a relative. And dead simple to keep clean. Chips taste nice in it and are low fat, but it cooks so, so much more if you want to. A sample list of some recipes are here:

Cooks food more evenly that some of the other Airfryers as it moves the food around. If you're cooking something that is likely to get bashed up a lot you can just take out the rotating paddle in the middle as it just pulls out.
Sausages ? Rashers ? (skinny sausages) fried potatoes

Yep, we use it for sausages, fried potatoes and have even cooked curries etc with it.
Good to hear. Might buy this as I want to cook chicken fillets in it
Would fish cook well in this or would an oven be a better choice?

In your opinion !
Saw this today in-store but the black was still £129. Hoping it might come down a little (the black colour) on Black Friday, I'm sure it did last year. Heat added, these are amazing and my last one lived for roughly six years

Had this fir very long time and its good but its pain to clean if you dont have dishwasher. The grill mesh and the sharp edges makes it hard to clean greases stuff

Oven would be better for fish I think...
I got one of these for £30 during a Homebase clearance event a few years ago. For £30 it's OK, but they are absolutely having a laugh charging any more than that, especially the £80 - £100 "deals" I see on here.

First of all this is nothing more than a halogen oven with a spinning base. You can get a halogen oven of the same capacity (or higher - see below) for £20 - £30.

The spinning bowl works for frozen chips but destroys anything else. Chips still taste like oven chips and cannot compare to deep-fried chips. Onion rings will turn out totally deformed and anything breaded will have its coating destroyed and shaken off.

My main annoyance with this oven is the huge spindle which sticks up in the middle of the bowl. This doughnut-shaped bowl design means that you cannot cook anything long or wide such as a pizza (or even half a pizza). This oven would be perfect for pizzas but for some reason they decided to design it with the spindle sticking up so it's totally useless for anything except small sized items.

I still use mine, but exclusively for reheating things such as pakora which need to be heated quickly. If mine breaks there is no way I would buy another. I would buy a halogen oven instead.

TL;DR if you want to cook things quickly and with more versatility, get a halogen oven.

The fish would have to be cut into smaller fillets. The spindle sticks up through the middle of the bowl meaning you can't use the full diameter of the bowl to cook long/wide things like fish, baguettes, or pizza:

Does the Phillips stir?

The tefal you do not need to use the paddle so can do what the phillips does and you can see it as it cooks

I agree that an air fryer is a much more veratile option, though my experience with Philips wasn't good. I have both and use the air fryer far more, and prefer the results for most things apart from chips, where the actifry is better. When the actifry dies I won't be replacing it, but the air fryer is totally indispensible now.

No. They'd get destroyed and stick to the bowl.
