Oh, I didn't know they came in difffent sizes, the box says 1kg? Hope that helps

Yes they also do a 1.5 kg

get a philips one, much better design, these are no differant to using an oven tbh, the philips one suspends the food so is way healthier (some cheaper ones are also of a similar good design)

it's quite different to using an oven the tefal has a rotating arm so constantly turns the food so it's cooks more even and doesn't burn and also cooks quite a lot faster than a conventional oven. well worth the price.

I've got the 1.5KG one and it's great. This would be too small for a family of four.

Thought about getting one of these but chips take ages (compared to a conventional deep fat fryer) and they use a fair bit of electricity.

yes your right, an oven that turns food, so you dont have to , my point was that they are really not that great, get an AIR FRYER

I've had two different models over the last 8 years now and only upgraded as we wanted the higher capacity.

They have been faultless little or no smell and a lot safer with children around.

Highly recommended from me and not just good for chips

Not saying it's better than an air fryer but it's a great device

Chips for four of us takes 24 minutes but we do cook frozen oven chips (which comes out lovely) rather than fresh potatoes which as you say do take much longer, but we've also never made fresh potato chips Ina deep fat fryer.

Electricity is cheaper than gas for us but 24 minutes isn't that long for some chips.

We have the XL model and it uses between 1400-1700w apparently.

So 24 minutes for a ton of chips costs us 9p. Even fresh potato taking 45 mins would only be 15p.

You'd need to be making a lot of ships ALL the time for that expense to make any impact at all to be honest
