its a tawa and a pricey one at that tbh
People near Wembley/ Southall can get the flat tawa from the Indian shops. It sits nicely on all hobs and comes in different sizes. Mainly used to make Dosa (You just have to try a masala dosa you haven't ever) the large tawa is big enough to heat tortilla wraps. Costs from £8 to £15 depending on size. Bought one recently
Go to you local continental food store will get the genuine article. These are not that great for Chappatis

Looks like a French Crepe pan to me.
I was thinking that would be great for crepes too
I use mine for pancakes and warming tortillas.
Some may find that you have to constantly hold these pans as they don't balance on a standard hob unaided very well.

Thanks, ordered.
Just seen John Lewis selling for same price, may help some.

Agree, my only criticism of the pan too.
We paid the same last time on offer. Good pan makes nice chappatis, we use it for everything from crepes to pan cakes too.
But as Marty says doesn't sit well on a hob. I actually thought it was our hob but appears it's more a design issue of the pan.

Fine on a wok hob. If you have a 5 burner hob...the centre one.

Hi, I have been trying to get a cheap Tawa for making Naan's etc. Online searches don't provide many results for an authentic one. Any ideas where I can get one that will be priced less than this deal?

A pizza oven is probably better for naan. Not cheap like you want though. Doh

I do have an Ooni pizza oven, but it's a faff for a couple of naans. I've seen a few videos making them with a Tawa and a gas hob which looks ideal.

Hot uk deals police strike again. People ask for more proof of assertions on hot uk deals than they do from leading politicians these days.

Just asking the obvious plonkers a question. Needless to say the ones who criticise most have never contributed anything to this site

Bought this a few years ago but not great and I wouldnt recommend it for chappatis. Very lightweight on the hob.

I think it was a genuine question about buying a cheaper "tawa" nationally.... A link would be very useful for all of us here who are looking for a better "tawa". Thanks
I know it says suitable for all hob types but can somebody confirm it's suitable for Induction hobs? Very hard to find one that is

we use our crepe pan to make poppadoms and chapati yeah.
Want to replace our gas hob with induction in the future but my wife says there are no induction tawas. Anyone have any experience in this?
This deal is a good one for people who can't find specialist shops near them.
Also what's in a name? Yes you can definitely use this for a multitude of flat foods... pancakes, crepes, dosas, chappati, tortilla etc

These are not as good as an iron tawa for roti/chappati/phulka as they are usually very light... btw, you can get completely flat (usually used for dosas or pancakes) or slighlty dished for roti/parantha. As for 'dry frying', I assume that means a slight coating of oil/ghee on the flatbread...

+1 on continental shop. You'll find a nice iron one. They the best! I'm 32 and my parents have had their iron one for as long I can remember. Will outlast anything else! Also make a fantastic weapon.

Problem with the nonstick is they dry the chappati out very quickly. It's hard to burn on there so it just goes dry. On a traditional iron one they won't dry out as quick but they will burn (get black burn spots).

For the record I can't make a chappati for s**t. Im just good at standing and turning it over once someone with more skill rolls it out and places on the pan.

Please see my earlier comment. you can get a flat tawa from some shops. Though i don't know if chapatis can be made on induction hob, based on its operating principle.

It won't work properly , because it is not flat . Any flat one, not made of aluminium or copper base will work perfectly on induction. No shortage of Tawa,s in Asian shops .

There is no shortage. Needs to be flat and not made of aluminium or copper base. Needs to have steel or iron base .
