Bt should give you the better router .leave them and rejoin?
Had one of these years ago for about £8 at pc world. Rather pointless unless you still only have a 2.4ghz only router or a computer without wireless. Apart from a printer and an ancient laptop all of my kit is AC now. Spend a bit more and get an AC router, will give much better service over time. It is worth remembering that basic 5ghz has a very poor range compared with 2.4.
I, too, bought one at £7.98. I haven't found a way (and an email to BT customer care confirmed the same) to use the access point as a WiFi extender. Perhaps the firmware can be flashed?
Just in case it is not obvious from the description, this access point does 5GHz WiFi only. BT designed it to sit right next to the old 2.4GHz HomeHub routers. I bought a couple of these back when PC World was flogging them for £7.98 delivered a couple of years ago. I am still using the USB WiFi sticks today, which obviously do both 2.4 and 5GHz.
