You'll be surprised at the amount of people who ignore such advice. Remember the partial solar eclipse of some years ago in the UK?

I'm more worried about looking at the moon.

What's a refractable telescope? Do you mean a refractor?

Garbage! (Even for 10p)

It will be like looking through a plastic jam jar

Plasma ball for a £1.00 too

i got the plasma ball, thanks for telling me.

they didnt have the telescope
Aww man....closest B&M store is like 10 miles or something.

Would they consider an exception for home delivery or at least a place closer to home?
Great for perverts so hot from me.
I got this a while ago at 12.99, even though the lenses are a tad scratched it's actually quite good to see the moon with, takes a little patience to get the correct position and focus but when set up you can even see the craters of the moon!
Is that a telescope in your pocket ?

Don't worry about it, there will be none available anyway. These 10p deals are usually store specific and only certain stores do them. I know my local one does not do 10p deals or at least I have never seen them and I am in most days of the week.

if that happened, it would have been sold out within minutes, due to greedy resellers buying a lot of 20+ of this.
Didn't have it in my local store not saying the deal is a lie
Absolute steal if its for 10p - not at my local store though.
if I bought 2 for 20p and taped them together, would it be twice as powerful?? :-)

How big does the Moon look through the view.
Is it like looking at a 10p coin (hahahaa) surrounded by a roll of tape?
Or better? (Bigger view....like a Pringles lid against the hole of a roll of tape? Thin gap?)
I'm trying to imagine what 100x magnification on a cheap telescope looks like.X)

This ebay page gives you some clue of what you'll see. Bear in mind the telescope is no more than about 50mm in diameter, a refractor & less powerful than many images shown. So ignore the images that show greater fields of view (150mm for ex.)
Where is the evidence of this deal ? Is is store specific or national ?

Errrrrm can't say I've ever measured a Pringles lid against a roll of tape but it pretty much fills the whole lense/viewer, thin-ish edge around it. If I left it in position for like 5 mins, in that time the moon would have moved and I have to re-position again. I had a quick try at looking at stars at parents as less light pollution there and saw nothing though. But for the moon it was pretty cool....coming from a 30 year old

Yes and the big plus is that you would get to see this!...

http://www.classickidstv.co.uk/wiki/images/d/d5/Button_Moon_-_Title.jpg
The moon has an angular size of about 1/2 degree. So at 100x it would look like about 50 degrees. The supplied eyepieces probably limit the apparent field of view to a bit less than that so you may not see it all at 100x. The moons apparent size varies a bit as its orbit is not a perfect circle, but an eliptical one.

I have no idea how bad it will look mind, the sort of telescopes astronomers suggest for beginners start at more like £50.

Then again, with all the rain and clouds we've had of late good optics is just as useless

It means the retailer is selling something they know nothing about.
