This looks like spider.
My girlfriend called it alien like...hahaaa
I have one and can fully recommend. Better than my virgin hub and it's managed. You can set restrictions and limit users. Good price
Cold, aerials not big enough...

Only joking, heat!

Hi. After some advice... Would this help extend the range of my WiFi? When I'm in the bedroom (furthest point from the modem), my WiFi which is Sky keeps dropping in and out. Do I just hook this up to the modem and hey bingo, good to go?

Not sure how good this is. You may need to turn your router to modem only mode and use this as a router.
My broadband supplier is EE but I'm not happy with router keep slowing down. I'm paying for fibre broadband. Would I be able to replace router with this or does it run along side with it ?

It may help. The router can set best channel for best range.
Without knowing all variables it's hard to say
Just check you can turn your existing modem into modem only or bridge mode. Some supplied routers don’t allow this (I know talk talk are one) there are work arounds but sometime not straight forward. Anyone looking just to extend WiFi range may be better off at looking at a mesh system.

BT Smart Hubs also cannot be put in modem mode.
I'm looking for a new router/access point with wireless ac and gigabit network ports, this one would fit the bill but it looks a little huge and ridiculous. Anyone have any suggestions for something more compact?

Virgin lets you do it OK.
Does it support WRT?

Does it support WRT?

There is generally no open source software support for wireless devices using Realtek chipsets.

Tenda haven't updated the original firmware on the AC10U since April 2018. It was FCC approved in December 2017.

There is a review of the sister AC10 model (no USB socket) here
digitalcitizen.life/ten…sts

It says it has very good 2.4 GHz wifi. Lack of software updates (for security updates). Also mentions the router reboots itself every 24 hours by default (to prevent router performance degrading or crashing etc due to poor software stability I guess) - the manual says this 'automatic maintenance' can be turned off.

I considered the Tenda for all of 30s before settling on the above. I needed something cheap to run in AP mode with gigabit LAN and dual band. This isn't the best Asus but the spec looks decent and it's currently a good price. No custom firmware but I can live with that on an AP.

Can't find a clear answer anywhere online so does anyone know if I use this with the virgin hub will I still get WiFi or will it only work with ethernet?
