For a few pence more, you can get a three pack of MW3 from ebuyer but it comes with a free MW6 unit. I purchased it from there ebay store, when the discount was live. Been extremely happy with the results. I've used the MW6 as the primary unit.

I am in the market for something like this. Anyone have any real world experience? So far I have been looking at the google wifi and TP-link deco for around £150 on amazon for 3. But am thinking that this one may be just as good with the additional unit. Thoughts?

A decent budget mesh kit which gives a good step up on most peoples routers, and will be more than good enough for most who want to eliminate blackspots in an average sized house. Easy enough to set up too, as a mate got these and was pretty impressed!

If you want a solid connection for watching Netflix and browsing the internet in the whole house, these are just the ticket. If you've got a NAS setup to a couple of computers in the house and want the very fastest speed moving large files about, you might want to think about looking at another kit.

Also depends on size and construction of the property, i.e. two of the best price on, say, the M5 Decos at < £99 may be a better fit for for you. Just one persons opinion!

Thanks for the input. Just been reading that ethernet ports are not gigabit so thats a deal breaker for me.

I just bought this set, from box too, they send you 2 2xkits which makes setting up slightly more arkward but still pretty easy, they solved a lot of network issues I was having with Phillips hue and my sky wireless I'd now disabled also have a pi hole hooked onto them. I'd recommend for a budget setup, but 100Mbps ethernet max, so worth considering. I have alot of things running over hardwired network but my Internet speed is only 24mbps so its fine for me

I have the three set of these and I can confirm that they are excellent and really easy to use
Had the MW6. Nothing but trouble.

If you have a relatively simple set up, they are brilliant. If you want to configure and tinker. This is not for you. If you want faster speed, you can get a mw6, and use that as the primary node, other than that, very good.

I have a large 6 bed modernish house on 3 floors and 3 of these units cover the whole house beautifully. We only have regular 16Mb ADSL (non fibre) broadband and get close to max speed from all 3 units. V easy set up and pretty much completely reliable.

So does the MW6 act as the master unit.
Do you achieve gigabit speed on all units ?

Using MW6 as the master unit (the unit plugged into your modem) overcomes the limitation of the MW3's 100Mbps ethernet connection which is only relevant if your broadband is >100Mbps. After that you are reliant on the wifi speed which will be affected by many different factors.

Hmmm this sounds much better option then! I have virgin 350Mbs broadband so was put off by the MW3's not supporting gigabit.

Aren't they supposed to be bringing out a new version of WiFi?

Poor speed, constantly need resetting, devices attach to the wrong unit, devices connect to 2.4ghtz instead of 5 and refuse to change. Got so fed up I got rid.

Sorry to hear, ours works great, with the exception of plex, but I.think.that is because its double natting, and the ip range set by tenda, is not regular, cant be fussed to change it, it case it makes it worse.

How did you get them to connect. Did you set up mw3 and add the mw6 or set up the 6 and add the 3s

The MW6 is connected to your router using the included patch cable/ethernet. Turm off the wifi on your router, as the MW's will be your wifi. You need to have the app installed first though. Then once the MW6 is up and running, use the app to add the other units. It asks you to scan the QR codes of each unit you want to set up. Hope that helps.

Yes got them working eventually. It was not asking to scan as I had blocked camera Doh! Habit from the kids apps that want access to everything. Thanks for quick response
For some reason, for me, i don’t have the option to scan the QR only this. Any suggestion how I may resolve this? I’ve had a look on their website but I haven’t found anything conclusive. I’m trying to add the MW3’s to the MW6

Can't for the life of me get them to connect. Tried resetting multiple times, just won't happen. When I scan the barcodes it says "node already connected" but they're not.
At least you’re getting to the bar codes bit

I wasn't at first either. Only after I reset the one connected to the router did the barcodes option come up. I can see the secondary nodes now but they are showing as offline. This isn't as easy as I was lead to believe! Going to try again tomorrow or they're going back.
PPatel10/10/2019 20:50

I've come across a comment saying the firmware needs to be updated on the primary node first. Might be worth a go. I don't have time to try it myself now.

I had this.
I was getting to the point of packing them all up and sending them back until I thought I would give it one last go and restarted everything - my (android) phone, wifi network and the Tenda's and then hey presto I could scan the barcodes.
Once (finally) set up they are great! very strong wifi signal around my house (thick stone internal walls) using only 3 of the boxes. Really pleased with them.

If you have internet anything over 100MB it's not really a good buy. For the same price you can get a 3 pack of MW3 from eBuyer which comes with a free MW6.
ebuyer.com/841…ck-

This is a much better setup because the MW6 has a 1GBps Ethernet port vs the 100MBps that the MW3 have. You would use your MW6 as the primary node plugged into your internet, but then the MW3 wifi speeds are 1200MBps so it can achieve your full connection throughout the home.

If you had a sole MW3 setup, you couldn't get anymore than 100MBps.

They're also available on eBuyers Ebay too.
Mine were great when I was on firmware 1.0.0.16.

After I upgraded to 1.0.0.17 I had regular disconnects. I could live with that for laptops and phones. But it made the amazon echos unusable.

There was no way to drop back to version 16 firmware. So they remain turned off.

Most new phones now will and new wifi connected products will support it as well. I need to upgrade my old extender which only gives me about 15% of the full speed I have and I am seriously considering a wifi 6 product.
