£899 for a Ceramic Egg BBQ is a good price anyways, but £675 for a premium German Brand is crazy. Ceramic body and lining, enamel outer coating and stainless steel cooking grid with Grid in Grid (fits Weber Accessories). Trolley included in the price as is delivery.

I can't really vouch for this specific product as I don't have one. I do have a large "Big Green Egg" that retails for about £1400 which is a similar thing. I bought it 12 years ago when I lived in the USA and it is fantastic, I love it. I probably only paid about £500, can't remember? I use it all year around, in rain and even snow (the idea is you set the temp and forget letting it cook itself), and cook pulled pork, brisket, chicken, whole turkey, ribs, pizza, salmon etc. I rarely cook sausages or budget burgers on it. If mine broke (unlikely) or was stolen I would replace it. It is not anything like a regular BBQ. You do need one with a ceramic heat deflector to protect the food from direct heat for many dishes - many don't have this. I also have a homemade 'Ugly Drum Smoker' (look on Google) that is much cheaper and also does great smoking.

And no, I am not made of money, I like cooking and like good food, especially deep south style. Oh, and I am not stupid either, I have a 1st class degree in computer science. Some people have expensive watches, mine is cheap, some people have expensive cars, mine is a Skoda, it strikes me that a lot of people are commenting with no idea of what they are talking about.

Can you do burgers and sausages too? Or just eggs.

Specifically designed for ostrich eggs
£675 for a little bbq seems very reasonable....
"Trolley included in the price as is delivery."

I hope there's a lifetime supply of burgers included too for that price.
I don't get why this is cold? It's about half the price of other Ceramic BBQ Eggs & massive discount on it's own RRP? Is it just because it's not a 'budget BBQ', or are there other Ceramic BBQ's available at a better price?
Just wish I could afford one - heat from me
This could be £100 and i still wouldn't buy it
Sheer indulgence, To many people can't even afford to put basic meals on the table.

Really? Maybe its because it costs more than a full size range cooker and is clearly aimed at people with more money than sense-and taste. Ridiculous 'deal'.
lots of judgy people here imposing thier financial position onto others. I Thought this site was about good deals? If you wanted to buy a ceramic egg BBQ, is this a good price in comparison to other ceramic egg bbq's. Not i don't think a ceramic egg BBQ is good value compared to XYZ therefore its cold. Am I wrong?

It is the equivalent of saying why by a top end anything because something else will do the same job. Mercedes with 50% off poor deal because you can get a 3rd hand Mondeo that does the same job.

I think it could be because it's a barbeque and no case has been made for its stupid price. Not too many people would use it ofen enough in the UK to justify its price. But if you like it it goes to prove there is one born every minute.

Oh, I wasn’t aware I had to explain its features as well. These egg thingys can cook paella, roast a chicken & impart a smoky flavour you can’t get on a £50 Asda BBQ. I thought this was a deal site, not a bargain basement blog.

It's still a barbecue, in theory there is nothing you can't cook over what is just an open fire albeit with charcoal instead of wood. How do you think people cooked before coal, gas, electricity?

Because it's an expensive fad.

I’m not an expert on these things, but I’m fairly sure they were used in ancient Japan. They’re not a fad. They are blimmin expensive though, but what do you expect for a ceramic oven that will last longer than 2 Weber’s ?

Agree an old monedo may breakdown as much as a new Mercedes.

Morrisons were selling ceramic bbqsearlier this year for circa £300.

However if you have the money why not buy an expensive bbw; each to their own.

But there are a long list of differences between a new Mercedes and an old Mondeo.

This BBQ works the same as any other - you put charcoal in, light it, wait, then cook stuff. I don't doubt it's better than a £100 one. But how can it possibly be 6 times better? Especially if you factor in your competence as a cook on the BBQ - I bet a competent cook will do better food on a rubbish BBQ than I'd do on a £600 one.

If you really need a ceramic bbq, here's one for £188. Still a lot for a bbq but a lot cheaper than this.

Not quite right m, ceramic BBQs will last a lifetime. This one reaches temperatures far higher than a standard BBQ. The space gives a smoky BBQ flavour to food you just don’t get with a Barrel one

Berghoffs are very nice, but that’s a travel BBQ . It’s tiny
This doesn't seem a great 'deal' for a glorified BBQ anyway. others are cheaper anyway...

but then again, if people want to spend money on it, their choice!

My £20 B&Q managed to reach the temperature where everything was burnt on the outside and raw in the middle quite easily.

I guess this just highlights and proves you know very little about BBQ's.

The idea behind a ceramic smoker is that it maintains it's heat with minimal air throughput keeping the food moist. Most smoked food is cooked low and slow, say 225 farenheight for 8 hours or so. This is something you just can't do in a regular BBQ. Even a novice cook can manage great food on an egg if they can follow basic instructions. People generally cook unpopular tough joints of meat that have bags of flavour but need a very long cook such as brisket and short ribs. If burnt Iceland burgers and 10 pints of Stella are your thing then this is probably not for you.

Having looked more closely I think the one issue is the lack of ceramic heat deflector "BGE" call these a place setter. I expect one could make something with a pizza stone and wire hangers. You need to get a pizza stone suitable for BBQ and I can't remember the name of the material. Costco were also doing reasonable ceramic eggs for a good price but no idea if they are still available. The good thing with the premium brands like Komodo Joe and big green egg is the availability of spare parts although they are much more expensive to start with.

Well, he's joined today just to defend this deal....you can tell me....its you isn't it?
This thread typifies what is wrong with this site nowadays (or - more-so - some members) .
A deal is a deal, irrespective of whether you don't want it or consider it a luxury or a fad, or think it over-priced, or even more ridiculously because some people are poor.
Op thanks for posting
