Terminator 2 in 3D £6.70 1 Day Only 29th August @ Empire Cinema

Found 26th Jul 2017
For one day only, Terminator 2: Judgement returns to the cinemas but in 3D! Showing is at 7:30 pm August 29th (the day Judgment Day happened in the film). Other cinemas are showing this to, but are charging almost double the price. The ticket is £6 but 70p per ticket for online booking.

This is proving very popular so i massively recommend booking now. 3D transfer is meant to be excellent and was overseen by James Cameron himself, much like with the Titanic 3D conversion.

Forgot check Vue, i know Cineworld wanted about £11 a ticket though. We normally use the Empire cinema in Wigan as closer to me, plus they usually have a decent voucher on the My Empire to use for a freebie or something. Hopefully something good in August.
Thanks for the heads up OP, booked at Cineworld (all that is near me) but used a meerkat code and got a nice saving.
Be nice if they added that short 3D 'sequel' that was made for Universal Studios. But they won't, of course.

From what ive seen it is ,but just on that one day and time regardless. Empire was best price id come across ticket wise
Yes one day only. 4k restoration and 3d conversion.
Stop this nonsense!

There's only two good Terminator films the first two and the second is probably the best. This film was never filmed in 3D, it never needed to be computerised in the 3D, there's no need for this! Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
I wonder how good the 3D is? Ghosts of the Abyss was excellent but Avatar was terrible.
Even cineworld is screening on the same day - cineworld.co.uk/

Avatar is considered one of the best 3D films ever made in terms of 3D. 3D is more than pop out effects, its also depth of perception. The 3D in this is supposed to be excellent
6.75 at my local odeon

Actually Avatar is considered the best 3D film ever made and the only one that needs to be seen in 3D.
do we really need this in 3D? and why are they still doing 3d films but not making any more 3d tvs ?

You can still buy 3D tvs AND a lot of people still own one and enjoy 3D content. It's far from a dead format as some would have you believe. We have an IMAX here in the north east and it's my go-to screen for the big blockbusters. You can't beat the combination of that awesome sound, huge screen and 3D

Most films released in 3D aren't filmed in 3D anyway, most are converted in post production - realorfake3d.com/
Given that, it doesn't really matter whether you're converting a film that's 25 years old or one that was shot yesterday - you'll get similar results. You would get the best results from actually filming in 3D but the stereo conversion process (or 'computerising', as you call it) is much better than it used to be - also this is James Cameron we're talking about here, he's got some pretty high standards and the Titanic 3D conversion turned out pretty well - so basically T2:3D is going to look at least as good as the latest Marvel movies, and will probably look better than 3D movies from 5 years ago.

Personally I'm not too bothered about the 3D aspect of it, but they've been working from a new remastered 4K transfer so it's going to be great to see that and it will just be great to see the film on a big screen as well (it will be the first time for me - never seen it in the cinema before!).

Money, is the simple answer. They'll keep releasing films in 3D in cinemas because they can charge more for tickets for 3D screenings. Also China is a huge source of box office these days (they're the reason why we keep getting Transformers movies!) - Terminator: Genisys made more money there than it did in the US, but T2 was never released there so giving it a theatrical run in China should be very profitable (it's actually going to premiere there, with Arnie turning up to promote it).
3D or not, how often can you go to cinema and see Terminator 1 or 2 in cinemas anyway. Worth the extra money for this ultimate classic on big screen!
