If you have an Aldi or Lidl you'll save more on a £60 shop than you'll ever save at 10p off a litre at Tesco - then you can go and fill up wharever it's cheapest. These Tesco and Sainsbury's fuel offers are only advantageous if you have no alternative for your grocery shop.

Tesco hikes the petrol price by 10p over asda when these promotions are on... lets see if its the same when 5th aughust comes
Is this £60 before using any coupons or after using coupons?

Excellent -they are refurbishing our petrol station in Wellingborough Tesco until around that offer end date .....
Tesco of course hike prices first then do this promotion. Just compare prices from a week ago to when thisnpromo goes live

On average my tesco store is always around 4p more expensive then adds an sainsburys...as they are 5 miles away. But the tesco store closer to them is only 1p dearer...

And some halfwit who insists they put supermarket fuel into their hairdresser Audi car one day and they could "feel the difference".

Got to say Tesco are the worst supermarket for raising their prices the day before the promotion, Sainsburys usually do it 2-3p but out local Tesco puts it up 6-7p. But all the other petrol station here bar one have closed so they can probably get away with ripping off customers more.

Don’t think hairdressers can afford Audi’s on a hairdresser salary! Lol

Granted, BP do put extra additives in their fuel.

Sure, they help. Does it justify being 20p more? Absolutely not.

As for Tesco raising their prices. The day before will go up the final 1-2p. A while back, the store I worked at went up 6p the week leading up to the 5p off...
Asda is closest to be and even if it wasn't, I'd go there out of principle.

5th hand Audi TT with 165k on the clock with no service history.

Actually, the last part applies to most audi's

Still going strong? Hairdressers salary are really low. Better off stacking shelves
This deal is better than the Sainsbury 10p of a litre because this deal allows you to bump up the value with alcohal

Sainsburys included alcohol. I know because I ONLY bought wine on the 25% off promo

I know like all Audi drivers it touches a nerve when people suggest your car is rubbish and makes you look like you cut hair for a living.

Hence why it is such a funny thing to say, seeing as the Audi driver starts slagging off hairdressers saying they "could never afford a car like mine".

Mine too! Welly.
Well besford comments r a bit far fetched, if u compare non branded for non branded then they come out pence more, but sadly i cant get everything i need from those supermarkets especially the brands that make my clothes smell nice plus my fruit tends to last longer from the main supermarkets. & my time is worth more than 2 different supermarket visits so good find i will spend £60 at tesco to save on my fuel. Top spot

That’s nothing to do with the diesel

I beg to differ put BP diesel in and not smokey anymore
I’ll be voting Tesco’s fuel (petrol and diesel) cold till end of my days after many car problems from my and friends experience. Rather spend few pennies extra to get unwatered stuff
A shame. My local Tesco has been the cheapest around for a while. Not with a price increase though. Oh well.
So let me get this right.. Fill the car up say 50ltr is around 60 quid, now to spend another 60 quid to get 5 quid off the fule meaning you are spending 115 quid. Tesco will make around 40 quid from you to save 5 quid meaning they win buy 35 quid.

I am a fan of both Aldi and Lidl, but their range is tiny compared to a large Tesco and. It alsaysbas good (sometimes better, sometimes equal also to be fair). For some things it absolutely makes sense e.g cleaning products we get all from home bargains. Others less so, depends what you are willing to accept.

saying “just shop elsewhere” could apply to practically any deal on here.

You’re absolutely right if you assume Tesco pays no tax on fuel, collects no VAT, and pays no fees like staff wages or rent for its buildings. Retail margins are generally around 50% but imagine groceries is tighter. Profit per litre of fuel is measured in pence so 10p per litre is likely to eradicate any profit they’ve made from that sale. That’s why almost every garage is also a shop, cash machine, florist, takeaway etc to expand revenue streams - they won’t profit on fuel alone.

if you’re going to spend £60 in Tesco anyway, as many will, then save £5 on your fuel is a good offer. Obviously going to Tesco to spend £60 to save £5 is less of a deal but doubt anyone is actually doing that.

What you can’t get £60 worth of shopping in it ?
Don't forget Brita filter too!

Depends what you buy didn't read the OP properly, thought you got the discount but only when you spend £60 or more on fuel

In my experience at Morrisons, it was after, had just missed out by 50p lol. Used some vouchers (promotional) for money off. It'd be fine if you used say gift cards or actual monetary Tesco vouchers I'd assume (e.g. from points).
