Tesco: 2kg Harringtons Dog Food , £1! Lamb&Rice Flavour

EDIT: Thanks to Seagull for confirming that it is Lamb and Rice flavour that scans at £1. Turkey and Veg scans at £2.

Harringtons dog food is a fairly decent food for the price IMO and usually retails at £3 for 2kg. We recently switched to this brand as it has 12% meat instead of 4% which is usual in this price range, and better quality ingredients than the likes of Bakers&Tesco Premium but still cheap.

Shelf edge label had them priced at £2, so we bought one of each flavour to stock up. However, one of them scanned at £1...which is an absolute bargain for 2kg of food!

Unfortunately, the receipt doesn't distinguish between the flavours and just lists them as "DOG FOOD" so give both flavours a try at self scan first

This was found instore.

HTH someone, and please be nice because its my first deal post

A quick look at .com and it appears to be the Lamb & Rice flavour that's going through at £1.

What sort of dog do you have? oO must be a giant! We have a cairn terrier, our first small dog, and shocked at how little he eats compared to the labradors we are used to!

They do have bigger bags of 15kg but its on offer at £17.49 at the moment from £21.49 - would be cheaper to buy lots of little bags instead of one big sack. Must cost a bomb to feed yours! harringtonsdogfood.co.uk/fee…spx here is a feeding guideline to figure out how much of this food your dog would need

Does you 'dog' neigh and whinny like a horse by any chance?!
oO

Incidentally, not that decent dog food but certainly not the worst you can buy.

Mac_d I agree its not the best dog food going by any means, but for the price it is good. If I could afford to still be feeding Orijen or JWB then I certainly would! I think as dog owners we just have to do the best we can within our means.

Can anyone suggest a good food for my westie, just read how crap cesar is.Thanks.

natures menu, natures harvest and natures diet are all good wet food available from pets at home, my puppy is on JWB wet food and it has over 40% meat contents. Most important thing is meat should be first on the ingredients list and not from animal derives. a v. cheap dry food which is all singing and dancing holistic ect is Autarky.

You are quite right ScampiLamp, though Orijen isn't just decent dog food, it's very high quality and very expensive to go with it! Autarky is another dry food that is a good price, and you'll find many poorer quality foods dearer than it. Seems like there's too much maize in it though, but if you can't afford to spend more, possibly one of the better dry foods to go with at that price though, as it looks better than Pedigree Chum, Wagg, Bakers etc?

For dry food, take a look at the ingredients and aim for a high meat content (should be the 1st listed ingredient). All but the very expensive foods contain grain, but look for foods with decent quality grains like oats or rice, and avoid foods that list maize as their 1st ingredient as it's low quailty (review sites state it's not easily digestible and often the root cause of any allergies in dogs).
