Not dissing this deal, but my Mountfield self propelled has been going for 15 years without a service. I would buy it again over any other brand

Your Mountfield is undoubtedly a much better machine, but I doubt that it cost £74. If you have a really large garden and will live to be 107 then you should get good value out of it :-)
I bought one of these cheap Chinese mowers (from Wilkinson's, and for £50) a couple of years ago. It runs fine (even has an OHV engine, whereas the Mountfield is probably still a side valve) and is good for a medium sized garden. It will probably last about a decade with some minor repairs with tape and cable ties. Of course it isn't as good as a Mountfield, but it cuts the grass and I can amortize its its cost at £5/year :-)
I've had a bad experience with those ohv engines, you can't get the parts when they go wrong is the problem. But for this price lasting a few years is okay
Just rang Tesco to see if any left as 10 miles away .totally useless no idea if they have any as no one bothered to go look

Cracking price and took a chance after getting nowhere on phone .8 mile trip but had 2 left at 10pm.As for brands I bought a B&Q own make in 2001.Other than a Plug clean its still fully operational if not a bit tatty so at 75 with warranty its a cracking find .Heat added for effort my friend.
I bought one of these little Tesco mowers about 6 years ago at a similar price and its been... fine.

Its had very little maintenance other then a new spark plug, couple of oil changes and the blade sharpening. It cuts grass and pulls itself along alright.

Bad points - This will be specific to me but it hurts my back, I dont know why it must be the height of the handle or whatever but at the point I am nearly finished cutting the lawn my back starts to ache. Everytime. Its also a tad underpowered but for 98.5cc what can you expect?

Having used it on Sunday I think its only got this season left its starting to get some horrible vibrations on the engine that feel terminal. The facts is it has cost me £75 and has done six years (7 if it lasts this summer). The Honda it replaced did just short of 20 years service but cost much more - about 5 or 6 times more in real money.
Wow, fantastic price for any self-propelled lawnmower.

There were 2 left at Kingston Park, Newcastle.... now only 1

Many thanks OP
Anyone know of a reasonably priced, self propelled, mower that has a Button or Key start (rather than the pull cord)?
I had one of these and pull cord broke and now spring has come out as well when trying to change cord
Is this national?
