I haven't seen it instore yet, but I believe it is pre-packed.

i've seen the rib roast in tesco Pre packed. i'm hoping this is the one they do on the butchers counter that they have reduced for the last 2 xmases.

i actually emailed tesco today to ask about this

just come from tesco and only offer on beef was silsverside joints at £4 kg

http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=256898915

the last 2 xmases they have half priced the butchers counter one. Works out cheaper than a turkey and did 2 meals for 5 people.

I really hope they do it again this year.

This'll be good for Christmas, could put surplus in sandwiches also

the pre packed ones look like small cuts

Im cooking this for xmas dinner and was looking for a bone in joint. It wasnt on offer on the counter at tesco coventry ricoh arena last night. Has anyone found this on offer...?

Bought just now at New Malden. Pre packed got a very nice 4 rib joint for £19. Use by date is 28/12 Thanks op

it looks like its pre packed and you can only buy a 1kg joint which i dont think is particularly big-especially if some of it is bone.

Definitely not limited to 1KG. My 3 rib (did I lose one) in my fridge is 2.682kg and priced at £18. 75

is this better than a topside beef joint was going to get one this weekend but if the rib is better think i will try it

Still too expensive

I think it's much nicer than a topside - this is by far my favourite cut of Beef!
Thanks for the heads up!

from the butchers counter

The butchers counter ones are vacuum packed if you ask them to get one from the back room. I think these are the ones of the shelf but I will pop in mine tomorrow

Just got this on the Isle of Wight from the butchers counter, they cut the size I wanted it was £7kg, they also had the Finest carvery rib on the bone 1/2 price at £8kg.

Yum yum,we prefer beef in our household :-)

We got a lovely piece today £7 a kg from The butchery counter. Its not pre packed.Imo the best joint for flavour. They had lots of pieces on the counter, ours was just over £12

This was in the Saville St store,Sheffield

At what point was it half price?

Thanks

Voted cold as all meat from tesco is unlabelled halal.

I remember buying rib of beef 15-20 years ago when it was unfashionable and therefore was much cheaper than buying Topside....about 99p per pound / £2.20 per kg it was then. It's now roughly twice the price of Topside....

Anyway I digress...this is a great deal.....

Idiot

Still too expensive

Agree, especially since a last month they had rib eye steaks at £8.00 per KG, this should be cheaper especially since that bone weighs it down.

I am from a butchers family (though we sold the last shop 12 years ago) this is a great deal and i have just bought a 2.5kg lump, there are two types prepacked the ones with the full lables are Irish beef and the ones doen in house with a simple lable Scottish the Irish ones had sell by's of up to 4th Jan where as the Scottish were the 25th. I bought the Scottish one as this was the best joint there and as I wont be using it until NYE I am trying to decide whether to freeze it or leave it.

I would never buy the pre packed topside/top rump/ silverside for roasting as it has no flavour I do buy it for potroast and stew though.

Anyone who thinks that this is too expensive is mad compared to Turkeys that are going for up to £9.99 per kg or even comparing it to the Silverside/Top Rump at £4.99 need to realise that is the same as comparing tesco value chocolate with Thorntons .
