Don't cook with Extra Virgin olive oil!

why:?

Delia calls extra virgin perfect virgin oil
deliaonline.com/ing…tml

It is the best all round oil out

I think you are on about the smoke point but i don't think anyone is going to fill their fryers with extra virgin. I use it to cook with but never do chips (only oven). I have fried eggs in extra virgin and use it for anything that needs a little oil. My cholestrerol level is to die for according to my docs and its the only thing i started to change some years ago. I use olive spread and olive oil and nothing else.

Ordinary olive oil has a higher smoke point.

Eh.....? Ok don't fry your chips in it, but there are loads of foods which can be cooked with it.
As 'marshallka' pointed out it can have a lower smoke point but this is not always the case (this if I remember correctly is due in some way to the manufacturing processes etc), Unless your looking to fry the rear-end off your food at the highest heat possible this oil is fine.

This is how it is traditionally:
-normal virgin olive oil for cooking
-extra virgin is for salads and dressings

Excellent deal - thanks

I've never used it before.. does that make me a virgin oil virgin?

Searched on 'Bertolli' and 'olive oil' and it doesn't appear for me.

Does the Tesco website only show products available from where your delivery comes from??

I placed my online order which included some of this at the £1.20 price yesterday morning to be delivered with my order today, but it was substituted with the more expensive "Bertolli Extra Virgin Gentile Olive Oil 500ml". I've just looked online & it seems they've taken it off the online order form!!!!

Online, they show "Bertolli Extra Virgin Olive Oil 1 Ltr", but that's £7.39, so the special offer price was great at £2.40 / ltr!!!

I just can not bring myself to buy Bertolli now that they are owned by Unilever...I just can't!

NiCe1...ta

My shopping arrived today and no bertolli. I thought it was too good to be true. It has really annoyed me. They sent 4 bottles of another totalling £16.00 instead of my 2 bottles of bertolli. I hasten to add, i sent them back.

Sorry folks if you do not get them and enjoy to those that do.

thanks. Great oil:whistling::whistling:

Hadn't noticed until i looked at the receipt but the olive oils they sent (were good ones) were on a bog off and although they cost £15.92 with the bog off was only charged £8.00. As i said earlier i sent these back but i have been credited with £15.92 so actually made £8 on these. Naughty but nice.

Been in twice at my tescos but they have run out. Isnt it always the way:whistling:
