Shhh, you're showing your age

Oil prices aren't rising, they went down over the last week ( I thought?)

Petrol station prices might be rising, because people are willing to pay it.

The markup on engine oil is pretty massive, we buy in bulk at work and pay about £1.80+vat a litre (this is for high quality turbo oil), this is the same stuff that from GM dealers would cost 41.19+vat for a 5 litre can. We do servicing and work on 20-30 cars a week (30 cars would be a good week) we pay about half retail price for a can of 5 litres of engine oil, so you can imagine how cheap Tesco can get this stuff and retail it to get punters in through the doors and still make a profit.

Oh, and the price of engine oil is apparently going up by quite an amount soon according to our suppliers, so maybe you want to buy some now if you've got an oil change due soon.

Err, not at all. The oil price went down slightly last week, if you look at the BBC News website you will see that a barrel of crude oil was $70 about a year ago and is currently over $130, small drops in price over a few weeks won't make a huge difference on pump or other prices related to oil. If the price does hit $200 a barrel which is rumoured then we'll be paying even more.

i heard you mention you used it lol.i aint got a clue lol

can anyone confirm if this offer includes castrol magnetec??

The Castrol Magnatec 5W 30 is £14.50 for 4 litres (BOGOF on 2litre bottles) - cheapest I've seen for this oil.

Castrol Magnatex on bogof is definately NOT ****!!!

Does anyone know who supplies oil to Tesco? I know Millers supply Halfords and the price is about the same unless either is on special offer. I wonder if Millers also supply Tesco.

What's special about magnatec then?

Also, for anybody who knows, what grades are available in the offer?

Castrol Magnetec 5W-30 A1 is £14-50 for TWO litre pack and is on BOGOF

I got some this weekend.....................bargain:thumbsup:
