Tesco credit card 0% balance transfers for 32 months, 0.99% fee

Hi all… this deal from Tesco Bank is another good option for people with existing debts who need a lengthy 0% period but don’t want to pay a massive fee to get it.

Tesco’s balance transfer card offers:
  • 0% interest on balance transfers for up to 32 months from account opening
  • 0.99% balance transfer fee
  • 0% interest on balance transfers for up to 32 months from account opening
  • 3.94% money transfer fee.
  • Typical APR 19.9%

Why I like this card
As I said, this is a decent option if you want a decent 0% period for balance transfers but you want to keep the fee to a minimum.

Things to watch out for
  • Tesco may offer you a 0% interest period of 24 or 16 months instead depending on your individual circumstances.
  • These 0% interest periods apply to any transfers made within the first 90 days of account opening.
  • Your introductory rates will be withdrawn if we don’t receive your minimum payment on time and in full.

Thanks for a detailed running commentary on your finances..

Same card as mine at the moment. Great card and decent customer service.
Decent card with good apps, just annoying that this card still doesn't support Google Pay. First world problems, eh

Supports Apple Pay however, not unusual for Tesco to support the Apple Ecosystem and just rush the Android ecosystem just look at all the apps they've made side by side.
Can you see what limit and length of 0% interest they will give you before you actually confirm it?
good card, and they don't really do rigorous checks when you apply.. I made a mistake with my surname & DOB as i was slightly drunk when applying...never had a issue and pay it off on time, but nothing on my credit report.
Quidco?
Only downside with Tesco credit card is that they cancel the account if you don't use it for a certain period.
Can anyone tell if it is for new customers only?

yes they tell you your limit and 0% length before you confirm
It's not fee free. That 0.99% will start to add up with compound interest..

Is that not a one time fee? 0.99% of what you transfer?

Yes it is, but it's added to the transferred balance and won't be paid off till the whole balance is cleared, which for many, will be at the end of the interest free period. Sneaky I know...

Was a good read no?
Hsbc advance credit card has a cheaper balance transfer
only by a little bit though, it’s at 0.89 I believe plus you get 25 pound cash back if the balance transfer is above 500 pounds

Indeed...

Boring as hell
Sorry the hsbc one has a 0.60 percent balance transfer fee so it’s cheaper than I thought
plus 25 pound cash back if you do it before 16th July

Quidco?

Best of luck getting cashback for a Tesco credit card. Have been chasing them (used TCB) for 14 months for mine...

Shouldn't matter, even if they are charging interest on the fee they have to allocate payments against the highest interest rate first. Given how low it is, thee fee will be covered by the first minimum payment and so worse case is you lose a month's interest free paying off the fee.
Perfect timing, thanks OP. My current financial situa.... Never mind.
Thank you
Any cashback going through tcb or quidco

I've already got a Tesco credit card that I've paid off and all the offers have expired, how can I get this offer on my credit card, I'm sure I can't apply for a new one

Same as everybody because Apple has one OS for all, not a million variants on it! Just not feasible for a company to support every android device

Google Pay works on every device, banking apps is a different story, other banks have done it perfectly fine, Tesco hasn't, no valid excuse really.

So every banking app except Tesco bank works on every android device? You actually saying that out loud?

And google pay is on every single android phone on sale today?
Can you use this to pay off debt or will they do a check and deny you

Yup, almost all android devices have NFC and that's all you need and it works fine, only devices that don't have NFC where I live are the super low budget ones around $50.

Yeah I am? If they don't work simply contact the bank and they'll try to help you fix the issue, in my personal experience Tesco has just avoided the fact and just keeps saying reinstall the app. Just looking at the reviews it seems apps work but Tesco just don't like the android ecosystem or have a deal with apple

IDK if you're some Apple diehard fan all I'm saying is Tesco need to treat both systems equally like other banks having just looked at the star ratings it's clear that they do and even if they're just ported over apps they seem to be doing better than the tesco one is. I like both systems but it's just a bit unfair for the customer that one bank to favour another OS over another.

Better being drunk when applying than when using it
