I'll ask the missus to get me one. Until I pay her back, Alloa £9.75.
I last owned a DAB radio about 10 years ago and thought it was absolutely **** - has the technology improved since then? The reception was very flaky and the sound quality poor also. I went and bought an internet radio which was a million times better.

These days I just use the tunein app on my phone or tablet linked up to a decent speaker.

So DAB radio - is it still terrible?

In a word (or two) - a bit. Still eats batteries; don't understand the technology but that seems to be a major flaw.

I feared so. I remember reading many scathing articles about DAB when it had not long launched. The technology was apparently out of date on arrival.

If you are using Internet radio then no need to go anywhere near DAB.

Limited coverage and limited number of stations make it a poor option.

checked at Wigan and still full price.
just bought one from hemel, thanks
the same radio in black was still £39, just the blue in offer.

It is still the same. DAB plus would be better, but it is not launched yet, and I doubt this radio would support it anyway.
Scanned at full price in Potters Bar, so store specific.

Err unfortunately yes. You're still listening to an MP2 stream at 64kbps, and in mono, for most stations. A new multiplex was released I believe last week and this should help with the hideous compression that most stations have been forced into with DAB broadcasts.
I only hope and pray they never switch off the FM signal. I have an old Denon TU-260L II FM tuner coupled to an old Cambridge Audio A5 amp, and with an external FM aerial, the quality of a good FM station is really quite astounding through my budget Gale speakers.
