Tesco Everyday Value Orange Juice Drink 1.5L 37p instore

My local had so much on the reduced shelves so I grabbed a few crates but they had loads left!

Guessing they are getting rid of it like they have done with all the other Tesco value items. If so I would guess this is a national deal!

37p each! And all the ones I got were 19th March 2019

Wow that’s a huge bargain!!
Ms Molly must be wondering what's going on. She has gone from being unknown to a major supplier to Tesco. It is funny that she doesn't sell to other supermarkets. Perhaps she is struggling to keep up with the sudden demand?

50% juice concentrate what is rest?

50% juice concentrate? That also means the concentrate contains hide and all sorts of rubbish. Probably a high percentage of the remaining is sugar so watch out for that too.

69p for pure orange juice in Lidl which has no sugar, if they have any in stock that is. Pay the extra and live life longer!

Ms Molly isn't in other supermarkets because it's Tesco's own brand. They've been rebranding their "Everyday Value" items under various different brands:

Ms Molly - Sweets, biscuits, desserts etc
Grower's harvest - Fruit and veg related stuff
Eastmans - Sliced meats, pastries
Heart Food Co - Oven food, pasta
Stockwell and Co - Mixture of things. Crisps, squash, fizzy drinks, canned stuff etc

There's probably more.
orange you glad this is a good deal
Its like squash, wouldnt bother with it.
Rather drink from a river

H2O

Sugar, water, additives, preservatives
This is nothing but poison, keep chugging it until you become diabetic...

Not the case at all...Firstly oranges are crushed to give you orange juice. This is expensive to transport so to half the cost of transportation, the juice is heated to reduce the water content. This process removes H2O but keeps all the yummy goodness of the orange juice. Now they can transport twice as much for the same price. When it hits the destination H2O is added and you have the orange juice all over again. "Made from 50% concentrate" just means 50% of the water was removed and re added.

Sorry no sugar, you do know fruit is high in sugar content? While it’s not ‘added’ sugar, it is still sugar.

Also what size is the Lidl carton? 1.5l or smaller. Your maybe comparing a product at 3 or more times the price per litre.

As for concentrate, what hide is in it? Cow, sheep, goat? Do you mean orange pulp and rind?
For everyone discussing the ingredients and sugar etc. Please see the ingredients on the carton below:

Was it the same packaging? I would guess they will reduce them at some point in yours if they are changing the brand / packaging

No it doesn't. It 50 percent pure orange juice made from concentrate. Then a further 50 percent water etc.

If it was only made from concentrate it would be made from 100 percent concentrate. There is a Tesco value orange juice which is 100 percent from concentrate it costs a bit more but is worth the money.

Yes it does.
Orange drink wars....
PAULTRD30/10/2018 15:22

Your just wrong pal. But I suspect you will never admit it. Look at the ingredients someone has posted a photo of. Then look at the ingredients for pure orange juice from concentrate.

Tate and Lyle

It’s astonishing how stubborn you are
You can clearly see the ingredients on the back, concentrate, water, added vitamin, acid, flavouring to get dumb people believe this is actual orange juice, oh and sweetener too!
Also it’s pasteurised, meaning all the healthy stuff are killed in it, including vitamins. Trust me, this is orange flavoured water+additives, but as I said, keep chugging it, let us know when you got your diabetes. You are one of those people, surely 100kg+ too
