Having a son who does have specific dietary needs, I am always on the hunt for food that he can eat, it's not always the easiest of things to find & although I do try to make stuff from scratch as much as possible, when times are busy & there is lots of other things to prepare, I do take shortcuts . One of these times is Christmas, with all the prep, I don't always have time so last year I found some fab kits at the supermarkets, he loved having his own special Christmas cake & Gingerbread House, looking around this year, I found a few kits at Tesco that I am going to grab for him, they look excellent value (as soon as something is Free From, places seem to double the price) too. Link goes to all, not an offer as such, but the prices are decent (I paid £10 last year for a Gingerbread House kit) just hope it helps people in my position.

Thanks for posting these. We're in a similar situation.

Heat added.

My youngest has several allergies which usually restricts him but these will mean he can enjoy the fun of Christmas too 👌

Free from brownies, hmmmm!!

Celiac disease here so you are a superstar, thank you! Have a look for the gluten free panettone that Sainsbury are stocking if you get the chance.

If you want to make these vegan you can generally replace eggwhites with the water drained from a tin of chick peas that's whipped up a bit. When you whip this, it aerates and thickens in the same way as eggwhites. Can be a handy way of making a vegan, gluten free sponge where you can't easily use raising agents.

My mum makes an insanely nice gluten free vegan Lemon drizzle cake (the slightly denser sponge helps trap the drizzle more and makes it incredibly rich)

I just find it astonishing how there has been a 30000 percent increase in people who are allergic to gluten/wheat etc in the UK in the past 5 years.

Surely a worrying statistic?

You'd almost think it was just a person trying to make themselves sound interesting or something.
