Tesco - free fruit for kids whilst shopping

FREE FRUIT FOR KIDS:

Whiles kids are shopping with their parents they can help themselves to a piece of fruit to snack on whilst shopping.
The fruit had a number of choices including the original apples/bananas/pears etc.

I just wanted to share this brilliant idea to help kids eat fruit. I hope other supermarkets follow suit:)

I hope this helps everyone with kids:)

Tell me your thoughts people:) I bought it's brilliant, could be for marketing, still great for the kids
all stores?
I also think it's a great idea although my Tesco has been doing it for a couple of months now. Our is only Fri/sat/sun

Can confirm its in the Milton Keynes store and Flitwick. I asked in Flitwick and they stated nationwide and will be live in all stores by the months end.

So many people will benefit from this, even if the kids eat one piece of fruit more a week, its better than none:)
couple of cold voters... seems strange that someone would vote cold for kids getting free fruit.
Which shops does this include?

Unfortunately I've noticed tesco have a massive class system in their stores, if you live in a non middle class area like I do, you won't be seeing this. or a clean store.
not sure I would like my little one eating fruit that might not have been washed, obvs not the bananas but the apples and pears I would def wash first before giving to a child! will they provide this facility?
It's a great idea due to the amount of people who eat items before getting to the till. Being handed a bag of grapes to weigh minus the grapes was one of the worst i had back when i worked in a supermarket, despite having the facilities for them to print their own labels at the produce aisle. Great bit of PR work by getting good publicity for a what normally constitutes theft.

I was in an area of Milton Keynes where the house are priced way above the middle class. The Tesco had them so i cannot agree with your note. I also hope you are wrong:) Everyones kids should be able to benefit from this.
Bit unfair that it's only for kids though. However it might shut some of the little **** up...
I would imagine they were just giving it all away to homeless anyway so why not let kids get rid of it for you.

They are the ones that give their kids pizza or burgers as one of their 5 a day oO
Been in our tescos for a few weeks now and it's great to see the kids munching in to them rather than a bag of sweets!!!

Sorry, I meant is it tesco, asda etc?
North Shields Tesco has been doing this for a while
Wow what a fab idea! My son always eats the grapes I buy so always have to go back and buy more - the ones in the prepackaged boxes not the ones you weigh at the till lol. Hopefully it will encourage good habits.
Thanks for sharing

Haha, as long as you don't mean it its all god lol:)
Scam!
Omg this is a terrible idea. They eat it whilst walking around the store? So there's going to be squished fruit everywhere that people can slip on and mucky hands on everything? Bloody marvellous
They have been doing this in Woolworth the grocery supermarket in Australia for a long time.well done Tesco.s

So made me laugh, think this is a good idea but you have a point, where will all the apple cores etc end up oO
pretty sure grapes are free in every supermarket
What a great idea I might actually manage to get home with fruit still in the packet lol
wow an exchange offer?

It depends on why you wash the fruit. There is nothing wrong with ingesting some natural occurring dust, dirt and bugs. 1 of the 5 a day and an immunity boost thrown in for free.
The sickest kids I know are the cleanest ones.
They've been doing it for a while in my local (Bangor). I first noticed it when I saw a load of students tucking in.
So where is the fruit? In the veg section or is it a special counter as u walk in?
