Tesco Salmon side is now half price in Tesco. I usually stock up when Morrison's have it on offer as I'm sure its cheaper there but no sign of it being reduced there at the moment... unless their staff know different?

We love the stuff but its so expensive normally.

Hi guys. The people voting it negatively could you possibly give a reason? If its cheaper elsewhere then I would love to know so I can stock up. Could there be another reason for negative voting?

    Good deal. Hot!

I think it's £11.99/kg (on offer) at Morrisons at the moment, and I know that that's the regular price at Costco - you can buy it cheaper when buying whole (Asda/Costco £5/£5.99kg), but I know that the heads on these things weigh a ****' lot

Ah I see, just some crazy folk voting lol
Is it £10 per KG? Also is it weighted through a whole fish or are the whole sides already pre-cut? if it's weighted on the entire side of salmon only and not the excess I'll be straight there to get a couple of sides!

If it's pre-cut and doesn't include head, tail, backbone etc could be a good price but usually supermarkets will lower the £ per kg to as little as £5 but this includes the entire fish whether or not you want the trimmings and discards. This could be the reason for the negative voting because HUKD users are very picky when it comes to items seen elsewhere or previously at a lower price.

Thank you. I went into Morrison's today and they couldn't give me a price for the salmon side but the fillet pieces were £12.99 per KG. I can't remember what I paid last time it was on offer. Morrison's didn't have any info on when there's would be half price so I shall stock up on Tesco for now. I noticed the whole salmon is much cheaper but I don't want to pay for a lot of fish I wont use and i'm a bit of a girl when it comes to those big heads lol

Hii, Its just the prepared side, no trimmings or anything, just as you see in the pic which I got from Tesco's website. I've already bought four sides, cut them into portions and vac packed them.
Sorry, edited to add it does have skin on, its not skinless as it says on the website

    Oh I didn't see you
But I did learn that if you don't have a pound on you, its possible to get a trolley by asking one of the nice trolley guys. They just plug it and there you go.... I learn something new everyday lol!

Very easy to get the skin off with any moderately sharp knife, but I've been leaving it on lately and pan frying it (skin side down) for extra length of time, until it's 3/4 of the way cooked through, then a fast minute on the meat side. The skin easily pulls off, and it leaves a layer of (omega rich?) fatty oil, which you can easily scrape off with a fork if you're not into that. Too lazy and impatient for wrapping in foil and waiting for it to cook in the oven

I prefer it with skin on anyway! How much did it cost you for the 4 sides? We haven't stocked up on salmon in months so think a trip to Tesco tomorrow is in order! Thank you!!

Jeczap I usually cook it with the skin on and my dog sits happily waiting for the little bit I leave. I do like that fatty layer and scoff that myself lol. I've tried cooking it sous vide, pan fried and in a heavy lidded cast iron pan but my favourite way will always be over a bbq.. yum!

Abcdefghijord I think the smallest piece was £6.80 which I think would be the equivalent of four of those skinny fillets that they charge £3 each for. The biggest was about £9 and it was huge. They had some bigger pieces but we prefer the tail end.
Ask the fishmonger to skin it,they are more than happy to do so.

yes, BBQ is the BEST! (I recently took mine to the tip, as she didn't cope with the winter winds/rain )
-salmon chunks marinated in garlic and dill....or tandoori-like mixture.........put on the barby......be sure the corners and edge bits get a bit charred.......squeeze a lemon over top whilst on the grill....breath it in...........:)

Oh that sounds like a bit of heaven!
They cut ours into 8 well sized portions. Works out much better value than the vac packed salmon and tastes better too
    This is back. Unexpire.
