Only if the wines are selling for more than £4.19 (a strange criteria that will trip up many HUKD bargain hunters ) per bottle or you get nothing.

*Excludes all small bottles, boxed wines, Meal Deal Wines, Wine Route wine, Case Deals, Wine by the case, and wines below £4.16. Excludes Scotland and Express stores. Valid for deliveries made on or before Sunday 4th December 2016.
Includes wines, sparkling wines, Champagne, fortified wines, kosher wines, and 75cl wines priced over £4.16 (includes lower alcohol wines, fruit wines and dessert wines).

They've probably calculated that by the time they've accounted for duty, vat and the case discount, they are only left with around 50p per bottle at £4.16.

Thank you for the clarification by I still think Tesco should make the exclusions at least as prominent as the deal.

Too complicated and devious ... they can bog off

It's to ensure that it is not sold below the legal minimum price per unit.

that's the government's legislation, not there doing.

This proves what I have stated in previous posts that the UK has NEVER shared the low taxation of alcohol rates amongst other things that the rest of Europe has always had, even as a member state.
A "booze cruise" with free bottles of wine should be uneconomical.

So is it going to take 25% off the original price if it is a £9.99 bottle marked at £4.99?

I called in tonight and got £12.25 off seven bottles.

It's working with the £10 meal deal this time (last time it blocked it).
So you could buy 6 bottles and so long as 1 bottle is part of the Meal Deal, you'll also get a discount for the Meal Deal. The thing to watch out for is that Wine Route wines aren't included and it's always the Wine Route wines that they have on display with the Meal Deal. So you need to look at the yellow Shelf Edge Labels in the wine aisle and find one that mentions Meal Deal (La Folie Douce, Merlot, works)

T&C are the cop outs for not doing what it appears to say on the tin.

Just returned from Tesco and the 25% discount was NOT taken off the original price. To the best of my knowledge this is the first time that this has occurred at Tesco.

How strange. I bought 4 bottles of Prosecco and 2 reds. One of the reds were in the meal deal and I got £6.60 discount for meal deal and £9.88 discount for wine deal.

Still a good deal for wines not often discounted - think are can be clever on a lot of bottles by simply charging more than they are worth in order to discount but at the higher price ranges there are some good deals - like with champagne and generally bottles above a tenner

Likewise.
We always assume that you will have a 25% deducted (as advertised) from 6 bottles of ANY wine which is not the case so supermarkets do not take a hit on their profit margins.

I have to disagree, in the past, it has always been 25% off the original price.

No it has *never* been off full price if the wine is on offer. You are probably confusing it with the price guarantee glitch where it gave you the difference of the full price wines at another supermarket and 25% off.

It's always been 25% off the current price, be it already on offer or not.
Prices often change, so how would the till know what the previous "full price" was to create a 25% discount. The till can't see the Shelf Edge Label that may show a previous "full price" so it wouldn't know what price to create the discount from.
