Tesco groceries - Free delivery mon-thurs(£2 fri-sun) on 4 hour slots @ Tesco(selected areas only atm)

Not seen any advertising of this yet, just noticed a new option when I went to place an order. New 4 hour delivery slots are free all day mon-thursday and just £2 on friday to sunday. I assume the minimum spend will also be £40 for this(currently £25), as per the recent change due on 23rd July.

Might be useful for those cancelling their delivery saver plans??

update - seems to be only available in certain areas currently so keep an eye out if its not in yours yet!

did you select the 4 hour time slot? or is that not there for you either?

Sorry, can't see anything about this on Tesco Delivery Saver webpage? Can you provide a link to the offer please?

hows it a joke, asda morrisons and the others are £40 min delivery anyways and have been for a while + its in your best interest to always spend £60 or more anyways and use a new user code for £15 off (ofc why they put min up to get back the costs from those abusers)

---

i also dont see the 4 hour free slots, in my area, this is most likely a trail

ofc you will never read this comment but lol

This has been on for the last two months .

It's still a £25 min spend at the mo .

Thank you for this but I still don't see an option on my screen for 1 hour or 4 hour slots. I notice you are on an Anytime package. I wonder is it because I am on a Midweek that makes the difference? i.e. the 1 hour and 4 hour slots are only being offered to Anytime customers?

Not available in Edinburgh, do like this though. Means they're taking efficiency seriously. I can see what they're trying to do. And agree that they should be pushing users to increasing grocery size with careful planning (though fresh food does have its limitations for people trying to stock up).

It won't reach its maturity until we move onto having grocery delivery boxes at our homes. Then we'll see the profitability and carbon footprint drop as they can use algorithms to map out the delivery times and drivers' routes most efficiently without the restraint of short delivery times chosen by the customer.

Maple have had designed a cracking self-correcting delivery algorithm and are using it in Manhattan at the moment. I reckon grocery firms will be using similarly good ones in time. All the couriers probably use simpler ones already that would suit Tesco etc (that don't need to account for perishable fast food in their calculations).

Does anyone work at Tesco delivery and know how they plan routes?

They will text you a 1 hour time slot on the day within the 4 hour slot .

I have been using 4 hour free slots for 2 months so far.

£40min for me is ok as I usually order £85-100weekly as I have toddlers , wipes and nappies cost quite a bit
But actually for most of the people of they live on their own or just a couple, £40maybe a bit much

I wouldn't think it made any difference what package your on(if any), since this would be aimed at people without any delivery plan. I guess its being rolled out to certain area's gradually as some see it and some don't. First time I've seen it on mine today anyway and though it might be useful for those without or cancelling their saver plans.

Yes. Spoke to Tesco about this. It is indeed only being trialed in a few select areas at the moment [the operator I spoke to thought maybe Crawley & Enfield but I wouldn't take that as absolute] . They would not comment whether it was intended, if their trail was successful, to roll it out nationally thereafter. Watch this space! Interesting!

thanks, I'm not in that area so worth keeping an eye out if this interests anyone, will update the op to note its selected area only.
