Whole leg is £5.00kg
whats best way to cook this ..... ant tips please
Great price. Bought whole legs in past and had a jolly old time dividing them. The extra 25p is worth it to save me the bother.
Sear the outside of the joint in a really hot frying pan, then toast on a medium to low oven for a longer period than most recipes suggest. So lower temperature for longer = nice tender meat. Remember to cover the none (if you have the shank end) with foil to stop it drying out too much. Remove from oven, cover with foil and let it rest for at least half hour before carving.
Some record tell you to cook in a very hot oven but this tends to leave the centre bloody, which puts a lot of people off. It's all about preference really. I like most meats rare, almost bloody, but I do like my lamb cooked slowly.
OOS at my local Tesco - Willenhall we tried last night
Available on the Meat Counter at Tesco as well

Yes but if you don't need a whole leg it's a waste.

I tend to cook mine in water over about 4 hours, makes it nice and tender to chew. Lovely gravy from the water too
You could joint a whole leg at the joint, giving you a shank and a fillet end.

The easiest way is just to slap it in the oven in a roasting tray! Season it with salt and pepper and cook for about 30mins/lb (65mins/kg) in a 180C oven (fan), or 190C oven (convection). Rest the joint for 30 mins at the end of cooking. You can add rosemary, garlic, red onions, etc on top or around the joint if you want but just salt and pepper is easiest. Lovely to eat with mint jelly (which is less harsh than mint sauce), especially in sandwiches! It's probably the easiest joint to roast as there's really no need to sear it, baste it, score it or anything else - just in and out!

My favourite lamb dish is a Jamie Oliver slow cooked whole leg in wine and with veg. His recipe is to oven cook but I do it in a (large) slow cooker. 8 hours cooking and you have something tasty, succulent, hearty and wholesome. Great if you're entertaining as almost all the work is at the start of the day. It freezes great too so you can have a quick delicious meal any time you don't want hassle.

Word of warning I ordered the half price lamb but the local store delivered a non promotional pack and I was therefore charged the original , overcharged by £5.75. Word to the wise might be worth checking your receipts.

Should have price matched. Reply to your order email and they will refund
The last time this deal was on I ordered two half legs but got two whole legs delivered for the same cost. This still makes me happy.

OK for the teethless, I suppose

Counter whole leg is British, prepacked is from New Zealand but both are £5 a kilo. If going in store you can pick out the wider half legs they are generally meatier and have less bone.
