Warrington tesco had this deal - though the cuts had been pre-packaged into light-weight packs & were in the regular packaged meat isle.
Perhaps because they don't have a meat counter in the Warrington store; only fish, cheese & take-away counters.

£5.74 for really nice cuts of quality rump steak is a bargain - we bought half a dozen packs, can't wait to start eating it =D

think you've kinda missed the point of HUKD :?

good find, not quite my cup of tea,but heat added all the same

God I wouldnt touch belly hurting day after tesco meat.

Ive had Rump steak from Tesco (usually go to butchers for steak) a few times and never had a problem with it, it isnt the best quality, but its good enough to throw with a jacket potato.

 And for less than £2 a portion, you can't really argue

Not sure about the prices compared to this deal.

But Morrisons always have great deals on meat.

Have a look there too.

Erm thats like voting a brand new console game selling for £10 cold because you don't have the console!

:w00t:

 Great to feed my hungry pups with.

Thanks, OP. These steaks in my local Tesco were all different sizes - more like fat chunks held together with bits of tissue than slices - I assumed it was because it was late in the day and only the oddments were left, so I bought some - it was really thick but quite gristley, and I made it tough because it took so long to cook (my fault -it was seriously thick), so make sure you have a good look at it before you buy and consider slicing the fat bits in half to make it thinner. On the other hand, a huge fat slice cost me £2.32 and would have fed four if I hadn't picked a gristly piece.

Voted cold, because after seeing a documentary about the fresh food counters in supermarkets I won't go anywhere near them.

However this is from two years ago. Hopefully standards have changed, though I don't find tescos comments particularly reassuring.

Just had one...... very good steak!
Obviously that was down to the master chef who cooked it..... but I guess the meat contributed too

Thanks for all the heat, glad everyone is enjoying (apart from the vegetarians) - not popped to Tesco yet to get mine, thinking a couple of kilo's should do it...

had one last night very nice indeed

Voted hot for me, got a stack of WELSH RUMP at the price and flashed it in the pan, normally buy it from the local butcher (support him) but at these prices its daft not to buy it!!
Got it off the meat counter, no prepackaging and he cut it to size!!

Not sure if this is a Tesco error or a staff error, but I was in the Shorham branch today and they charged me £2.87 per kg for these, ie half price of half price. An amazing bargain for steak, needless to say when I saw the price I bought a few more!

Might be worth a try if anyone is in the vacinity. If it is a staff error, it was blond girl of about 20 who served me, might be worth looking out for her!

Got just under 2 kilos yesterday, had a peice last night - absolutely gorgeous!!! Bit of salad, bit of garlic mayo to dress the sald, a couple of small jacket potatoes and a bit of ketchup.....mmmmmm. Wish I'd bought more now. Can't remember wherabouts the steak was from but it was fairly local - and as others have said, it was cut to order for me.

Wish I'd bought more now......

I'm a vegetarian but don't taste of chicken. Mrs say's I'm more like salmon or tuna. I know what HUKD is for so I voted HOT unlike the meat brigade when there are Quorn deals on here
