Just been confirmed this morning that tesco mobile are dropping the £2.50 a month increase for 4G. It's rolling out to pay monthly customers now with PAYG to follow.

It means they are joining three in the no additional charged for 4G offer, except their network is based on O2 and has actually rolled out already.

sounds good

anyone know when any mobile operator will be rolling out 3g to north wales?

Still not as good as free as it's not unlimited data or tethering.

Sounds good. If only EE would do the same.

Also no feel at home schemes. Three is far superior.

3G speeds are so slow.

I agree, I'm with three myself, but you can't get it yet on three, until they actually roll out the network properly I think this is the cheapest 4g option

Getting fed up if tesco network, clearly traffic prioritised for O2 customers first. A recent trip to York saw full signal, but slow intermittent internet.
You gets what you pays for I guess.

They won't.
Search for 4G license and percentage of population to understand why.

Basically they have to cover 90% of population as part if their license. 3G was about 60% from bad memory.

Full bars doesn't necessarily mean good data signal.

When it becomes economically viable, so probably never. Three had a decent signal in Barmouth last time I was there though.

Not bad now they've cut the £2.50 charge and Three are raising the prices of their 1 plan.

If I was buying a SIM only deal next week, I'd go for the 12 months at £15/month, 2000mins, 5000 texts and 3gig of data.

I was with Tesco for a few years when their iPhone deals were considerably cheaper than the rest of the market. Was always happy with the service and data connection.

just spoke to them, and i need to be on one of their NEW plans...i am on the £10pm 500 min + 2GB data....the best they could offer was 1GB so looks like staying 3g for me

Just been told that they won't be doing this for iPhone 5 - despite the handset being 4G compatible. Sad times!!

IPhone 5 is only compatible to 4g on the EE frequency, its not 4g compatible with Vodafone and O2's 4G frequency.

Cheers for that, will sit tight and see what the future holds. Thanks.

it won't work on the iPhone 5 for technical reasons, they are using the o2 network and the iPhone 5 doesn't support the bands they use. this is partially why the iPhone 5c was made instead of keeping the iPhone 5 on like apples usual product cycle. it's not tescos fault on this one

Iphone 5 will work on three 4g.

The iphone 5 will also be able to connect to some of Three's masts as they're using the 1800Mhz band as well

Annoyed my 5 won't utilise 4G on the Tesco network. Will just have to wait until the 6 is released.

To be fair this was said at the time the 5 was launched, nothing has changed in that respect.

i already have a tesco pay monthly contract, should i just call them and ask to enroll me on the 4g.

Must have missed that. It's not a big deal for me ATM as my city hasn't had 4G rolled out anyway. Think it's getting it later this year.

Great deal shame my S3 does not support 4G doh.

Again though, like with Three, this hasn't launched yet so you can not get this service today

Many People did, but Apple clearly stated what the 4G bands were when the 5 launched. and Yes I'm in the same situation...

Anyone got an iPhone on Tesco Mobile and have tethering?

I cant seem to tether my laptop with mines... any ideas?

I asked yesterday and they said you pay £2.50 now to get 4g. However this will be refunded on 6th Feb. So from the 6th it will be free. But you can get it now and get refunded.

They do a 4G version of the S3..... I have one....... no 4G contract though

Excellent news if it wasn't on O2 network.Without doubt the worst and slowest 3g coverage and have no faith in them investing to much into making 4g widely available.Great deal but poor coverage.

I don't suppose this will affect existing customers who pay £2.50 extra?

Hot from me. £15 pm (12m) for 3gb 4G data. Not bad, i need tethering though so I may or may not go for it.

Wont use three as there signal is rubbish around my area so no good for me.

My tmobile full Monty is finishing today. Not sure whether to go for three one plan at £15 or Vodafone £26 with 6gb data less employee advantage 20% discount and £120 quidco??

Need to make decision by tomorrow

Virgin have a rolling 30 day contract, 3G, but unlimited everything for £15 a month. They piggyback EE.

Just talked on the livechat - got a new card ordered will be here in 3 working days. All pretty painless - no talk of charges etc. all free.

It is not Apples fault. Many other providers allow tethering on the apple platform so I blame the network for Not wanting to allow it.

Thanks for the heads up
