For those asking whether the phone is locked....it is!

BUT, sell it to CEX for £30, then buy a 435 from Carphone Warehouse for the same money. Completely unlocked phone, and 1GB RAM with a front facing camera...

Not a bad price, but 16GB is really pushing it with Windows 8.1.

I could be wrong so don't quote me but i am sure the Linx 7 is 32gb so maybe that may be a mistake. The one i had was 32gb unless they do a 16gb?

Anyone got any comments on the phone? Is it any good?

Only says 32GB as per Linx site

I believe the £10 off code expires on Monday...

tesco.com/direct

Whether the blurb means that Monday is the last day, I'm not sure. But one can only try. I was looking at this this morning since I've got a tons of clubcard points to use up, and I've cracked the screen on both my Windows tablet and mobile phone...

Is the phone sim free? Seems like a stunning deal!

How do you get the £10 off?

The Linx 7 is a really good 7" Windows tablet. Get one when ShopTo had them for £58. For general light use I cannot fault it at all. No idea what the phone is like.

I'm not saying it's a bad deal, just making it clear for anyone interested.

Hopefully they'll swap the 530 for the 535 then it will be a decent deal.

Dont bother with Linx. I had a link 8 tablet and it was useless. dropped Internet connection, Not holding battery. Even when not used at all, battery flat in two days

Maybe you got a bad one? The reviews on Amazon for the Linx 7 and Linx 8 are amazing. I've been tempted for a long time to get one for the occasional Windows Apps I want to run.

That's a connected standby fault....not a Linx tablet fault as such.
Speak with Intel/Microsoft if you have a battery drain issue ;).

Can't say I experienced any wifi dropouts when I owned a Linx 7, 8 and 10...
(I have since reverted to my Asus T100 as it's a much better balance of features).

I dare say your issues are isolated to you only...and the connected standby thing can be switched off with a v.simple registry fix (Google has the answer)

I use this tablet with kodi hooked to TV. It's really good. Can play 1080p files really good.

They are excellent tablets. Battery life isn't great (small battery), and the screen on the 7 is a step down from the 8 - it has a mottled effect on the display - like that when you turn the ISO to number 11...(/6400) on a digital camera. For the money though, this is excellent value - especially when you factor in that you can sell the Office licence for £30 on Ebay.

This is absolutely true.

I fixed the internet connection dropping with a dongle hooked to 4 port otg below.

I use it with kodi installed permanently on charge.

It's not a tablet anymore. oO

Was that a Linx 8 though? The Linx 7 is a lot harder to keep charging on dongle such as the one you mention. Mine intermittently works and for no apparent reason stops, I'm sure it's something to do with the BIOS resetting itself, because mostly just going into the BIOS sorts it out, until it stops again. On the other hand I've had a Linx 8 running with an alternative USB dongle to the one you showed (this one amazon.co.uk/gp/…s01 ) and it's been working 24x7 for several months monitoring my solar panels and running my house security, whilst being connected to a wireless keyboard and usb network adaptor.

I've got 2 Linx 8 tablets and 1 Linx 7, I tend to use the Linx 7 mostly in bed watching movies or on journeys, battery life isn't that great, but then for the price compared to an Apple, you could fill your bag with external battery packs.

None of my tablets has a problem with any of my wireless networks, I've got 3 and they never drop connections. I've turned of connected standby, by battery life isn't a problem if you turn off rather than go into standby, it boots so quickly this is a perfectly viable option.

Assuming you don't have ease of use expectations similar to Apple, Windows 8.1 on a tablet is a real eyeopener, no longer do you need to run 'compatible' office apps, you can run Office 2013 full version, likewise, you can even run MS SQL and Visual Studio, it's not super fast but fast enough. I love mine, I guess that's why I have several.

Don't forget you have office included for a year, plus cloud storage, I combined mine to get several years worth of storage, plus a quick hack to convert to home version to get even more.

And windows phone, not as many apps, but probably most of what you need, I find it to be a really good phone, although I've got a Lumia 925, but I loved my HTC 8S before that, which is probably pretty similar to the 530. If you want a mobile to make calls, SMS and perhaps a diary, it's a brilliant phone OS, if you want to load apps you use once or twice then don't bother.

Does anyone know if the included 12-month subscription to Office 365 Personal can be installed on a pc rather than the linx tablet?

Yep - they REALLY need to get a handle on the OneDrive performance. I have unlimited OneDrive storage, and figured I'd upload all of my stuff so it is accessible everywhere...
However, I struggle to upload 2GB in a 24 hour period - which is painfully slow compared to DropBox. Apparently, the OneDrive client for Windows 10 TP is vastly quicker - but I'm not sure if/how I can install that on my W8.1 machine.
