thnx

Stopped shopping at tesco when they decided to stop offering value

The 'best deals' are offered at most other supermarkets, dread to think what the other offers look like.

These are normal Aldi prices.

I find Aldi's fruit and veg to be better quality than the main supermarkets. Oh yeah, and a whole lot cheaper.

What? Have you ever been to Aldi? Because that's absolute rubbish.

GREAT STUFF

I think it depends on the aldi... But I find lidl fruit and veg as cheap as aldi but lasts longer and is fresher... Tesco tends to have over produced rubbish... Just my opinion :-)

Aldi offering best prices on fruit and veg!

this aldi lovefest is doing my head in

Bought 31 bananas from the local market today. £1!
3 cucumbers usually £1 too. Rip off in supermarkets where logic says should be cheaper.

Lidl and aldi are definitely on par with their fruit and veg. love their produce but Tescos is a no no !!! not enough bargains for my liking !

Cold - Tesco is overpriced by around 30% compared with Aldi and Lidl, right across the board.

And apart from that, Tesco constantly use fictitious prices to make things look cheaper - double the price one day, then next day it's a 'half price' offer. It's worst of all with the wines, fruit and veg, where the prices are totally fake, but it applies to pretty much everything they sell.

And the meat's just awful - not a patch on Aldi.

Basically, you can trust Tesco to do one thing only - and that's to make you pay through the nose for everything you buy there.

The only problem I find with markets is the fruit is already ripe. Best bananas for bananas bread though

Asda already been doing this for months. yawn Tesco

This won't last. They'll be back to "2 cucumbers for £3!!! OMG!!!" or whatever before long

31??? that is good, thought my 6 pink ladies down the market for 75p was good.

Also stopped using Tesco and pretty much and do a full shop in aldi.

Agree with tomwenn

The big supermarkets are too expensive the Likes of ALDI are now offering better quality and importantly better prices we mostly do out big shopping at ALDI and get the things that are on offer at the bigger supermarkets Hot added !

Tesco has a problem with falling sales/profits so I guess this is part of their strategy to win back trade from Aldi/Lidl. They've definitely taken their eye off the ball on prices and don't seem to have many fans on HUKD. Stores look tired too. I'm expecting some pretty aggressive discounting on all the main food lines. But will it be enough?

I agree, fruits and vegetables at my Aldi are fantastic. I actually recently "re-discovered" Aldi (I did not really like it in the past) and I am shopping there instead of Tesco. Looking forward to the super 6 of this week :-)

No awkward Aldi lovey-dovey comments from me, but I will say that Tesco seems horrendously overpriced. Hopefully the prices will actually 'stay down' unlike the last time peppers were half-price - lasted a week maximum

Only time I buy fruit and veg at Tesco is in the evening when they knock it down to 90% off! What I cant use right away I freeze. Got 6 caulis last week at 4p each and 10 half cucumbers at 2p each - still all looking good and edible. Rest of the time its Lidls for me!!

still making up for the horsemeat I see!

I work in Tesco and even with staff discount prefer Lidl fruit and Veg quality and prices.. The ignorant comments about lidl/aldi probably come from idiots who still think a Skoda is a bad car... Leave them to shop wherever and we can keep the decent food for ourselves thanks :-)

If you have 2000 Tesco stores across the estate it's very hard to calculate the quantity needed..and also at that volume you have to get from different sources so quality might vary slightly.. Aldi doesn't have such supply demands as Tesco / Asda... if they get to a bigger size will be interesting to see what happens... I've been to Aldi and while it's ok if you live alone / over 40 or just want a few bits you can't compare 40,000 to 80,000 products at Tesco to Aldi's few thousand.. I also find the adverts on TV misleading.. oh Linda shopped at Tesco for 3 weeks then Aldi for 3 weeks and saved £30 a week on average... k... but I went to Tesco and purchased a new TV remote.. or some Printer Ink.. or a stapler.. and then went to Aldi and they had none of them.. so it's not far.. you can't expect to spend the same going into a 40,000 + product store to an Aldi...

???? This affected most of the major supermarkets and other retailers.. Iceland more so then anyone else... and it prob went on for years.. You have no idea what's in most of the stuff you buy.. nobody does.. unless you take a factory tour and get a break down of the manufacture process of each item... Prob more germs on the trolley handle at the supermarket then you'll get from the food..

Didn't affect Sainsburys and some others.

I agree that Aldi's grocery range is inferior to Tesco but what they sell is of good quality (the same can't be said of Tesco )
I go into Aldi and always pick things up - with Tesco I don't many buy products because I'm not happy with the price or quality.

It's not so much the quality (though the quality of the meat is dire) as the price. Grossly overpriced by comparison with Aldi and Lidl, which is why so much of their trade is disappearing there.

I really don't think Tesco fruit and veg is that expensive, always offers on

True - there are offers on. But many of those offers are based on false pricing, for which Tesco received a large fine a few months back. You know the sort of thing - double the price one day, put it back where it was the following day, then claim it's half price. They do it all the time.

Aldi and Lidl just don't play these sneaky little games - their prices are genuinely lower than Tesco for most items, most of the time. And not just lower - hugely lower.

I have switched to Aldi, fruit and veg much better than tesco

No they are not hugely lower.

I tooka trip to Lidl and Aldi to see what people were raving about. Their breaded chicken and kieves contained around 40% chicken. Tesco and Morrisons is 63%. Tesco's chicken is also from the EU. Aldis was from Brazil. Aldi is also German. I support British companies

fruit and veg reduced....so tesco will probably put 5p extra on milk and bread instead. never been near the place since finding a box of sweet potatoes rotting and infested with flies...it was still full price. yuk! Aldi and Lidl mangoes far superior to all other supermarkets.

Fair deal but I really don't understand why people can't use their local greengrocer, generally cheaper than the supermarkets and better quality.

I really think HDUK (and similar sites) has been the architect of Tesco's downfall. The more people exchange comments on product pricing, the more it has become obvious how expensive Tesco really are. And their up-and-down pricing is now obvious to everyone too. Of course, they have some 'offer' buys, but in the main even Sainsburys now knock them into a cocked hat!

You could be right there. It's largely through sites like this and supermarket price comparison sites that Tesco have been exposed as expensive and low quality, when they used to be seen as quite the reverse.
