Toy Wars are heating up! - also not forgetting Clubcard points

Also comparing against
• Toys R Us
• Asda
• John Lewis
• Sainsbury’s

The supermarket giant has launched the price-checking initiative on 8,000 products, including hundreds of toys, as it bids to become “the UK’s top destination for toys and games” this Christmas.

As part of the assault on Argos – which was acquired by Sainsbury’s in a £1.4bn deal last month – Tesco has also created a 123-page toy catalogue.

The free publication will be handed out to shoppers for free at almost 900 Tesco stores up and down the UK.

Sure is!

so where are the specific deals? the prices don't look too exceptional so far?

I'd be more interested if they were beating prices rather than matching them. Club card points aren't a motivation for me, as I don't shop there generally

It's instore, they've started to match thousands of offers as states in OP - basically trying to save you a trip to other stores and getting you to shop in Tesco

Really? there's no mention of this being in-store as opposed to online? (there's mention of a free catalogue in-store but not the deals themselves).

If Tesco are price matching Argos, then it's got to be more likely that their prices will go up rather than down, as Argos generally one of the most expensive places to shop. Voted Cold.

I was in store yesterday and there were loads of signs saying 'cheaper than Argos' or 'better than Argos price'. Handy for people that don't understand that there is a thing called the internet where you can compare prices from hundreds of different retailers (like most of my family...), and can pick up some cheaper items. I was very tempted to adjust the sign to add 'but more expensive than Game Collection, Gamespot, etc etc (_;).
Useful for those that are shopping there anyway, but I did find it a bit odd that they are targeting one retailer. Hopefully will be good for the consumer and start a bit of a price war

More info
mirror.co.uk/mon…396 also mentions it'll be online

Just a head's up, they're starting a 3 for 2 deal on all toy's from the 28th this month

I work for Tesco - they are only matching Argos and not the other retailers mentioned

To be honest, its a nice heads up, but there is no actual deal here.
This is really just a "heads up" that Tesco may lower some prices at their discretion, but who knows what or when.

its true, people just read tesco and vote hot.

Who's doing 3 4 2 Argos or Tesco?

No deals at all at my local Tesco superstore when I visited yesterday. Really disappointed after all the adverts for "bargains" I'd seen on here!

it's cold...

So exactly how does this work, are the prices already reduced, or do you have to jump through numerous hoop to try and get them to refund the difference or price match, If so I'd just buy at the cheapest store in the first place as to try and get a price match is too much bother.

where's the deal ?

How about the guitar hero deal for £36.99 at Argos?
