If you are in an area that operates the NHS Minor Ailments Scheme you can get these for free.

I think they only do that up north don't they? I know they don't do that here (Suffolk) :o(
You should be able to get paracetamol suspension free on prescription from your Doctor for children but only if they actually have something wrong with them (not just to keep in your first aid box) and actually getting a prescription for it is near impossible - well it is from my doctor anyway! :o)

it's definitely not always been that price, it's not actually the one in the picture, it's in a red and yellow box (couldn't find a picture online tho) like I said before it's normally about £2.80.

Poundland/worlds generally stock Galpharm's paracetomol suspension.

It does go up and down a little but it is usually around £1.50 in Tesco and has been for ages.
Can often get similar in Poundland as laurieleigh says.
Interestingly you can get the single use sachets (which are a LOT cheaper than Tesco/Asda etc.) in Poundland more often than the bottles.
Liquid ibuprofen also.

Got to agree with hashman, its always been around that price. But its the one I buy usually because my son doesnt like Calpol!

I must be really unlucky and have a tescos which stock it at a higher price than everywhere else then :o( I thought I had found a real bargain here, little did I know everyone else has been getting it at this price for ages rofl
I honestly don't think I have seen it this cheap before in my Tescos.

didn't even think about poundland though ;o)

Always that price for 100ml-this is 200ml so seems a better deal to me and 6 plus, so you use much less of it for bigger kids. I reckon it's a good deal-used a lot of the stuff lately for sons broken arm!

I am in Scotland - we have the minor ailments scheme, you just let them know over the counter at a pharmacy what the problem is eg temperature/teething etc and they will give you paracetamol free - guess its not like that in England?

I tend to buy Boots brand these days as they come with a syringe & syringe friendly cap which I find so much easier to administer to my little ones plus it means you can tip the bottle upside down & get all the dregs out too!

The price has fluctuated over the past year. I'm sure it was £1.24 at one point. Excellent value, and for this price I would hope people don't waste a GP appt to get a free bottle unless their child actually needs to see a GP.

In St Helens we have "Care at the Chemist" and they give this and other stuff for free for minor ailments

I see a few comments about pharmacy first but they are giving the wrong information.
I work in a pharmacy and do pharmacy first all day long and this is how it works.....
You can go into a pharmacy that is registered under this scheme and get advice and medication for some minor ailments from headlice to muscle pain.
It is available to people on benefits only.
If you do not pay for your prescriptions then you can use it.
Under 16s can use it ONLY if their parent DOES NOT pay for their prescriptions.
It is a funny rule because we all know under 16s get free prescriptions from their GP but they can only get it free on pharmacy first if their parents are exempt.

Those who do pay can still get advice but will have to pay for any medication they need/want.

Hope this clears up some confusion from the above posts.

I'm in my local Tesco's now, the bottle in progress cure is £1.50 and the Simplest in red box is £2.00 in Redcar

Don't you just love predictive texts lol.

thank you kylepotters - I knew I wasn't going mad and it wasn't/isn't always £1.50, it has probably also caused a lot of confusion that it isn't the one in the picture (that is 3months+ and a smaller bottle I think?)

anyway, I hope this might have helped somebody!

£1 for 100ml - £land/world
£1 for x10 5ml sachet £land/world
£1.50 for 200ml is good
250ml in boots is about £3.50-4.00

Always been that price here in Glasgow, also same price in boots or you can get bottle in poundland/home bargain/ b&m ford pound or free from scottish chemist or most doctors. Alo these e numbers than calpol by still full of sweeteners
