39p @ Aldi as well...

I don't think 40p each is especially good but they don't feature in the current Aldi 39p specials.

If they are as small as the present stock they are not even worth 40p!

surely the going rate for 3 is about £1.20 anyway

I don't think 40p each is especially good

Really? I live in London and loose peppers are closing in on 90p each. 40p seems good to me!

Lidl have the reds ones only at 39p and the ones I bought last night were nice and big.

I still dont understand where tesco think an pepper should cost more than an iceberg lettuce.
when i was on price integrity ~2 years ago the peppers were always 30~40p.

So most posters don't think this is a very good price yet it has gone hot - odd?

Always cheaper to buy them in markets.

a lot of people on here are really dumb. Just look at yesterdays deal of the day. 1 copy of gta4 in 1 store lol

Supermarkets are consistently ripping off people on Fruit & Veg , people who dont know any better with a big shop. Stick to markets, Lidl, ALDI and the like.....

Wouldn't you like to be a pepper too?

This is why this country is getting fatter !!! our fruit and veg is among the most expensive in the world! 1

pepper in england costs more than a litre of cider, and double the price of an average chocolate bar !! now

considering a chocolate bar has to be manufactured, shipped and packaged and a pepper grows naturaly

and is ready to eat.......WHY? im not even that health concious to be honest but u dont need to be to see
where the problem is !

I feel like I share your thoughts except surely peppers also get shipped and packaged or am I missing something?

The OFT really need to put a stop to this HALF PRICE nonsense.

The supermarkets must think the general puplic are idiots to be taken in by all these HALF PRICE offers.

Bell peppers are an extortionate price.

I go to Asda for them - at least you can get a bag of smartprice ones for a RELATIVELY reasonable price.

One of my pet hates at the moment is the price of peppers in supermarkets. Shocking.

Thanks Op

Yep ur right because if u look at most the fruit or veg in supermarkets u will see most of it will be grown in spain, morocco,s.africa etc but i know for a fact that we are able to grow most of it here including peppers! theres a problem somewhere if supermarkets find it cheaper to get their produce shipped from around the world rather than on their doorstep! im not a wierdo activist we just like to get meat and veg everyday for dinner rather than leave it in the fridge for a week and most of the time we spend more on veg than meat or fish. and im pretty sure this is the only country in the world where thats possible ! (this is not a rant) :-)

mine too ! especially when you have a 10 year old who can demolish a whole one in minutes :w00t:

Seems a deal to me! I buy them most weeks and detest the high price Tescon and the rest charge, but must have them for me spaghetti, stir fry s, etc.
Thanx for the deal.

Maybe because people who actually buy peppers are aware that these are normally 82p in Tesco and don't feel the need to comment - just vote hot.

Apart from the massive 1p saving in Aldi I'd like to know where I can get a loose pepper is cheaper!

This is cheap, I bought some the other week and they were 80p each from morrisons! Asda are also doing them at 50p if people don't have a tesco nearby.

Unfortunately he's right and yes all fruit and veg is a rip off but then again everything in England is anyway right :whistling:

In our local store (Merthyr Tydfil) they're 10p each for the red, yellow and orange ones. Don't know if it's the same in other stores now, but to me 10p qualifies as proper cheap, unlike "we'll tell you it's cheap so you buy it" 40p!
