Sure, the Israeli marketing dept came up with the name sharon, however the best come from Italy where they are called diosperi or cachi. Very difficult to transport.
Was going to buy these last week but have no idea what they taste like so didn't.

If you don't try you'll never know. They usually taste nice, nothing too unusual.
I gave them a whirl today, texture a bit like a cross between a tomato and mango texture wise and quite sweet. I liked them for a change.

True lol, will take the plunge next time.
bought them last week and they are lovely. Very hard to explain the taste but deliciously sweet and soft.
Spanish ones available in Aldi too
I bought some but unsure on how ripe it is or isnt oO first one was a little hard so i've left the other 2 for a few more days to see if they soften up a bit
tried the ones in Aldi - bit like an orange but with minimal/vile taste and an odd texture, not great IMO.
Normally this price at..... Aldi!
Great for smoothies.
These are amazing when they are over ripe they the skin will go a sort of transparent orange colour and feels like a water balloon, the flesh can then be scooped out like a Kiwi and it's tastes like a cross between tinned peaches and mango.
I have never had these until last week as they were only 69p. Wasn't sure when they were ripe but looked online and they can be sliced and eaten like an apple texture like an Unripened mango bit of a nutty flavour but also sweet and the taste is only very subtle to the point of almost bland but I liked them they made a change and will buy them again.
Hot price, but make sure you only eat these when they're ripe (soft). When hard, they contain large amounts of tannins which are undigestible by humans, however these tannins break down as they ripen in the fruit bowl.
Delicious though, like a sweet pumpkin

Are you supposed to eat the skin on these?

The flatter, doughnut-shaped varieties you can, but I'd peel these rounder ones.
The ones I bought yesterday were produce of Spain

Depends on how ripe they are,

When they are very ripe you can, bit like a tomato with a skin and flesh

but not when they are very firm, you'll need to peel them
