From 5th January to the 31st, Tesco will be offering 40,000 free Health Checks at their in-store pharmacies. The Health Check involves measuring your blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar levels and checking your BMI (weight). It takes around 20 minutes and the results can be discussed with a pharmacist straight away **.
** Health Check usually £10 which consists of weight management, blood pressure check, cholesterol test and diabetes screening. Cholesterol test and diabetes screening requires a simple finger pinprick test. Not suitable for pregnant or breast feeding women or anyone under the age of 18. All sales and services are at the discretion of the Pharmacist.

Keep your eyes peeled .. as it were ... lol. :-)
Bare that in mind?, as it may just help some of you that are perhaps not able to hook up the 'January slots'?. :-)
Definitely.
Useful for those living in Sunbury.:p
Free parking and don't need to make an appointment that i be made to wait 30mins after the actual time of the appointment.
Plus im not wasting my doctors time when i can waste Tesco's time instead.
but totally agree about the breekie part
Even did it in a private room so I had privacy and a 1 to 1 q&a session with the Pharmacist.
V helpful
Not strictly true. I would agree that a fasting sample is better but more so for the cholesterol check. Blood sugar values have upper limits for fasting and non-fasting so even if you've eaten it shouldn't be higher than the given value. Cholesterol however will be higher if you had a full-cooked in the Tesco cafe before the health check (_;)
The test won't be a fasting one at this stage. Just a random test, then if it looks like there may be a problem from the result you would be advised to see you GP for further investigation.
Fasting Blood Sugars may then be done but only if you have had a test result indicating there may be a problem.
Yes Thanks.
I'm Aware My Wife is a Nurse (Diploma in Diabetes Care) & Our Son Has Type 1 Diabetes since 11years,
It's right to point out that the chemist offers a random test, only your GP can determine if you have Diabetes.
Many people have diabetes and aren't aware so I think it is brilliant to be offering this for free, i wouldn't book a GP Appointment just for a check up, so this is Hot from me :-)
